Multiverse: Is it just a theory? Or is it real? (Page 5)

Oh, by the way... you never did tell us what happened to everybody in Paris... so everybody in Paris is dead??
Go figure......... and they seemed to be doing just fine yesterday when I checked on their news stories.

Corwin: The Big Bang is pretty much an established fact... unless you can somehow disprove Relativity, which has already been proven.

Blackshoes: No..Corvin It's just a theory ..It's a assume fact ..Just like hundreds of other theories. Thats why they're called theories ...It was once considered a established fact the the unverise was slowing down .Until it was proven false ..Just because everyone once believed the Earth was flat didn't make it so !

Corwin: Not everyone thought that the Earth was flat... only the grossly uneducated held such a superstitious belief that you could sail off of the edge of a flat Earth. The Greeks were measuring the circumference of the Earth's globe over 2000 years ago.

But if you want to refute Big Bang theory, all you have to do is disprove Relativity... debunk the math behind "red-shift", and prove that the Universe isn't expanding.
Good luck with that.

I suppose it could be... they do have their own website on the matter. ---

Blackshoes: Corvin ... I 'm not refuting the theory of the big bang ?? I'm just stateing the fact that it not a fact it a assumption .. Just like you assumed that only uneducated men believed the earth was flat .Many theories in science today are little more than educated guesses .That's the problem with ignorance .Most don't know how ignorant they are .Because they're teachers tell them so

Corwin: That wasn't an assumption about the belief in a flat-Earth only being held by the uneducated... that's known history. The lowly slob swabbing the poop-deck may have had the ignorance to believe that the ship would sail off the edge of the Earth if they sailed too far... but the Officers who were in charge of navigation wouldn't have done very well without an education in Longitude and Latitude.

And the Big Bang isn't some random assumption... it is the inescapable conclusion based on our observations. Relativity demonstrates that a distant object that is receding from us will have their light spectrum shifted towards red (known as red-shift), as the speed of light itself cannot change in relation to the observer. (just as in sound waves, the sound of a speeding car lowers in frequency after it passes you, as the speed of sound must remain constant)
Distant galaxies are all receding away from each other... therefore the Universe is expanding... and if everything is rushing away from each other, then there was a time when everything was much closer together.
Turn the clock back far enough, and our calculations lead us to the Big Bang.

Blackshoes: Corvin Believe whatever you want .That doesn't make it so ! It's a assumption .Maybe a educated and a good one But a assumption just the same . Thers no calulations that can prove it happen ",Or that it could have happen .

Corwin: That's the interesting thing about facts... facts are true whether you believe them or not.

And according to our observations, there's no way the Big Bang COULDN'T have happened.
We always hear from nay-sayers about how we've been wrong before, and how if we could be wrong about something hundreds of years ago, then we're probably wrong about EVERYTHING now.
But some things we just can't "un-learn"... and the red-shift of distant galaxies is very real.. and there's no loop-hole we're going to find, or some amazing new discovery in physics that is going to somehow explain red-shift as anything other than objects moving away from us.

This effect of Relativity is proven beyond a shadow of doubt... just as the effects of time-dilation have been proven. If we are wrong about this, then our GPS satellites have no business working the way they do... but they do work. The atomic bomb would have never worked either.

Blackshoes: That Opinion not a FACT ..You can argue all you want ! The fact is the Big Bang is not proven ! Think real hard .. The earth isn't flat .We've seen it from space ,you were not at the Big Bang It's just a Theory .. Just because all the observation before :,stated the stars where slowing down didn't prove IT Thatr because( it must be slowing down) isn't sicence it's OPINION

Corwin: But we can observe the Big Bang in a manner of speaking... telescopes are time-machines... as you see light-years distant, you see years into the past... when you peer 14 billion light-years distant, you see the aftermath of the birth of the Universe... you see the very very young Universe.
Of course we can't witness the Big Bang itself through a telescope... at the moment after the Big Bang there weren't photons yet.

And we knew the Earth was a globe thousands of years before we saw it from space... was this only a theory back then, or could they deduce that it was a globe? Did the fact that they hadn't traveled into space make the fact of the spherical Earth only an opinion?

You have IMO missed the entire point .I'm not argueing whether the BB is good or bad sicence .I'm just stating that' it not a fact.!. Have faith in whatever you want n' deny yourself a open mind

Corwin: I don't make an assumption of whether or not somebody has been educated on a certain topic... people will demonstrate their ignorance by the things they say.

For instance, if I hear somebody say "Anybody who thinks that Chimpanzees started to all of a sudden have Human babies is a stupid idiot."..... then I know that they have no understanding of Evolutionary Biology.

Just an example... I'm not saying that you said anything like that.
