Multiverse: Is it just a theory? Or is it real? (Page 11) Corwin: Lori has trouble taking a hint. Instead of trolling Dawn's forum, why don't you go read a book or something... a REAL book... like a Physics textbook or something... go learn something. (Post deleted by DawnGurl ) Corwin: "It's important to have an open mind, but not so open that your brains fall out." --- Carl Sagan (Post deleted by DawnGurl ) (Post deleted by DawnGurl ) lori100: Corvin: Also, our visual perception of the Earth is limited to only 3 dimensions. Modern Physics suggests that there are as many as 11 dimensions.------------------------------ha ha...look at that.....was on Lipton's "what does the earth look like" thread........Corvin thinks there are at least 11 dimensions...... Corwin: That's right Lori... Physics hypothesizes that matter may have 11 spacial dimensions to be measured by. Too bad you just cherry-picked through my words and didn't read the rest of it, or even have a clue what the word "dimension" means. These dimensions mainly exist on a blackboard, and are mathematical representations to express "Geometry" too complex for merely three dimensional space... they are NOT magical fairy lands inhabited by unicorns that we can travel to and from. Think of it this way, if a sentient cube only perceived 2-dimensional space of length and width, the cube would see itself as a square, but the dimension of height would still be there, it just wouldn't be intuitively understood by the cube. This "dimension" of "height" is NOT another PLACE that the cube can travel to... it's JUST a parameter of spacial measurement... the cube is still just a cube. (Edited by Corwin) (Post deleted by DawnGurl ) Corwin: So if farts are transparent, bad breath is transparent, and the stench of an outhouse is transparent, then why question the existence of invisible flying unicorns? Here... take these. ---> (Post deleted by DawnGurl ) Corwin: Ummm.... and what exactly does that have to do with Quantum Physics or Multiverse Theory? Religion Forums are that way -----------------> (Post deleted by DawnGurl ) Corwin: The fundamental basis of Science is that all things happen according to natural law... God is not part of the equation. Religion Forums are that way -------------> Philosofia: I'm no cosmologist or physicist, but here's my $0.02 on this. Right now, it's only a theory until some form of evidence backs up the findings. I theorize that other universes exist. We use to think we were the only country (Ancient Egypt), then we found others (Greece, Persia, etc). We use to think we were the only planet (Earth), then we found others (Jupiter, Mars, etc). We use to think we were the only galaxy (Milky Way), then we found others (Andromeda, Pegasus, etc). There's a pattern going on here. (Edited by Philosofia) calybonos: There sure is. We use to think that $0.02 was enough, then we found out that the Mexicans will offer their opinions for half the price. Corwin: Well... you see, that's the difference between Science and "faith". Physicists don't actually "believe" that there are multiple universes... it's just an idea that implied itself as a result of the math they were exploring. Just a "possibility". Science deals with "possibilities" and "probabilities"... "likelihoods" with skepticism toward things that are highly unlikely. This is "gambling".... not "faith".... faith is the realm of the religious. ----------- But keep in mind that Black Holes were also once something that only existed on a blackboard... something that the math implied may exist. By their very nature they could never be "observed"... yet we have now proven their existence beyond doubt... we can't observe them directly, but the gravitational influence they exert on the surrounding universe is observable and undeniable. (Post deleted by DawnGurl ) Corwin: So... God created Science... but Science cannot prove anything... ... so... why did God create something that can't prove anything? Also... if God created Science, then why did He not fill us in on it until recently? Is He just trying to confuse us? Or does He have another agenda? God is strange fellow. Godwhisperer: God can prove himself & does to those that seek him, this is biblical & true. But the catch is he reveals himself to those that seek his heart. | Science Chat Room Similar Conversations |
