according to me (this is what i think) Everything is made up of energy--we are made up of energy ! energy doesnt dies it gets transform from one form to another form! so energy is a soul/soul is energy/energy is us,right now we can be seen in physical state ..but when we die..it gets transform into another form.... "like we cannot see air-but that energy is present there in atmosphere" :-)

The human body has one part of the body- the brain- that overwhelmingly consumes energy. This would indicate that it REQUIRES such energy to exist- otherwise, why bother?

Equally, when you take damage to the brain, your personality and memories can be drastically effected.

Clearly, ones personality is physically located in the brain- and when that part of the body dies, there is nothing to indicate that your personality wiggles free from all your guts.

But the difference in this instance is we can MEASURE the air- we can capture and study it and see what elements the air is made of- so, on the most fundamental level, air is proven to actually exist

But no one has "captured" a soul. There is no evidence supporting the existence of a soul. All you've suggested is broad guesses, with no observable evidence to support such a claim....

Personally, I think the belief in a soul stems from peoples own fear of their own mortality- that, even without any religious context, we survive even without a body cause....um....we really, really wanna!

Raj, as with most things on here, I have trouble siding with something with no evidence.......if nothing else, can you prove energy is consciousness, or even life?

That statement implies it absolutely must have a purpose to exist. That's simply not the case. It wasn't made for anyone.

An excellent and astute question. Far as we know, it came from nothingness, but this has always bugged me, and a great number of people. Does that mean science has it wrong? Potentially. But the data is pretty convincing....

Yes, yes, we've all heard the Einstein quote- you aren't addressing my question;

You are hypothesizing that, through the dispersal of energy, you can somehow continue to live beyond death.

This brings a myriad of questions- first of which, is there any evidence that energy can "contain" a part of or even complete "soul" (which, since no one choose to explain, I'm gunna define as your personal characteristics.)

invariant: Very good, Raj. The conservation of energy. Conservation laws are the basic laws of the this universe. I am trying to correlate in my mind the soul with the spirit. I am still thinking about it. The very singularity of big bang could possibly be an effect of non-conservation of matter from another dimensional space or universe. See? We should always use the word "possibly" or "probably", because everything is possibly wrong, like someone beautifully said. If there is a further interest in the origin of the universe, we'll talk. But Raj was right regarding the overall energy of this universe which is constant... meaning zero.. again.. possibly.
