Ghosts Do you believe rainwaterstear: it's almost Halloween time, whats your thoughts>?. Ghost real? Feel a cold chill sometimes in a dark room, whats lurking behind you that u can't see. Geoff: My thoughts on this subject generally run along very simple phrases, mostly starting with 'b'. Balderdash is possibly the most polite of these. xSTEFFYx: I believe in spirts...My old house was haunted, not in a bad way, just doors slamming shut water and lights coming on and off sounds of someone walking up and down the stairs, feeling like i was being watched. Im actually addicted to all those ghost shows on tv, Ghost hunters, Paranormal state, Ghost adventures. I wanna do some ghost hunting one day!! Space Lord 2012: I use to be very skeptical about ghosts..(spirits)..However, life has made me a believer because..I've crossed paths with a few of them.. Loveylilthang: Ghosts arent real. but thats just my opintion.... the cold chill in a room is your imagination or mind playing tricks on you. and when you think you heard a bump in the night its more than likely just you mind playing tricks on you or a pet or something explainable And feeling like your being watched is all in your head to... .............just sayin xSTEFFYx: What about someone being possessed? Thats a spirit entering ur body, a spirit is a ghost. What about Mary Rothe (bloody mary)...thats a true story on being possessed.... Heres a page to read up on it... http://www.unexplained-mysteries.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=175736 xSTEFFYx: I do believe it! Im a nut when it comes to all this ghost stuff, ive looked up alot of stuff on spirts, possession, all of that. The house that i lived in was haunted but like i said, not in a bad way, some of my girl friends wouldnt even sleep over bc of little things happening in the house. Some people believe it, some people dont. This is a debate that will never ever be settled. ExcellentOwl: Bloody Mary is just an urban legend. The name "Bloody Mary" was a nickname for Queen Mary I of England because she killed so many Protestants. I don't understand how either relates to possession. I won't say I don't believe in ghosts... but I tend to be skeptical about stories because so many people don't use critical thinking. People hear creaks and get a creepy feeling in their house, and it's automatically "omg, ghost!" There are so many natural explanations for these things. It's amazing the things our minds can do without our realizing it. I'm willing to believe that ghosts or something similar exists, but I think that a lot of the stories people tell are the results of people getting freaked out and jumping to conclusions instead of using their brains. xSTEFFYx: Bloody Mary isnt a legend, go read the website that i posted on here, It happend in Watseka, IL which is about a 45 min drive from where i live. Bloody Marys real name is Mary Rothe. When mary died, she possessed another girl that lived in the same town as her. Yes the name is of Queen Mary also. At Mary Rothes house the do ghost hunts there, they have it so u can make an appointment to go into the house and learn about what happend there. ExcellentOwl: Bloody Mary is Queen Mary I. Since that time people have just started calling everything named Mary the same thing. When I say Bloody Mary is an urban legend I mean the thing little girls do in the mirror, not the article you posted. I don't believe that people can die and "possess" other people, but I do believe in demonic possession. I also believe that other things, such as psychological disorders like schizophrenia, could easily be mistaken for possession in a time when not much was known about the disorder, such as in the early 1920s, which was when the story you posted supposedly took place. junoiryu: from the science aspective, i am skeptical the ghosts. but in life some magical spectral things happened in our life which make me feel it maybe exist just at around. Sena: Now, I was a skeptic. Was being a key word. And trust me I was the skeptic of skeptics, ghosts and demons and all that were so stupid, out of the question. AND THEN.... I dated a New Age guy. Al (not giving you his full name) was definitely real... when the dog and I hear boots upstairs, and there is no one there. The darkly stuff is definitely real - ghosts and stuff are real.... If it was not for that, I would still be a skeptic. Geoff: Embedding is disabled on this video, so to watch it, you will need to go to YouTube to watch it. But I assure you that Derren Brown is always worth watching. LiptonCambell: Far too many simple, unexplained circumstances are simply shoved into the "ghost" category....you hear a strange noise? Ghost. You see a strange movement? Ghost. You feel apprehension.....well, you've convinced yourself theres a magical, immortal being fucking with you- of course you feel apprehension. I've always felt that all of reality- everything about how the human body works, and all life, really, is an eternal struggle to stay alive- to consume resources. The human brain consumes more energy than any other part of the human body- and yet, despite this, there are people who claim that we can exist without it! And the proof? Some noisy homes and mysterious events. Its just silly... duncan124: The "fake human" copses can do most of it , bump in the night, make footsteps on the stairs, chill in a room and of course sudden terrible smell. They like to make noise all night, TV and "music" and want to know what ever humans are doing and stop it. Why I don,t know. (Post deleted by Wireclub Robot Butler ) Justme4367: I guess you non believers would have to experience something so out of the ordinary to convince you that spirits and restless souls do exist among us . Funny to hear someone compare horror movies to actual hauntings though. Ive never heard things go bump in the night, and never heard whispers, lol. Ive actually heard my name being called out , and witnessed unexplainable incidents in my home, and seen things that you wouldnt believe if I told you. But Im a believer because I have lived with this for 20 years . Geoff: No, us non-believers would have to experience something that was beyond anything that could be explained by our minds playing tricks on us. Which, considering how much our minds can fuck up, would have to be one fell of a lot. Geoff: Well, it seems that a lot of people don't know about their local public library. Or the capabilities of that fleshy mass between their ears. ExcellentOwl: I used to hear my name being called all the time when no one was there. It's not paranormal. It's just one of those crazy things your brain does. | Science Chat Room Similar Conversations |
