Jupiter duncan124: Jupiter and Venus will soon be together, or at least close to each other in the night sky. Source; BBC supernova39: Jupiter is relativlly far from Venus thus is immpossible to get together ,cause before they get together will pass over the orbit of 2 other planets Earth and Mars. If a planet deviates from the orbit then the hole system will disorder so that then is the end of the solar system. It is the garvity of each- other having a regular orbit around the sun StuckInTheSixties: Well ... not light years. A light year is a lot. It's easy to figure out the rough figures ... Take the average distance Venus is from the sun: 108,000,000 kilometers Take the average distance Jupiter is from the sun: 778,000,000 kilometers To figure out how much distance separates them when they align, subtract Venus from Jupiter: 670 kilometers To figure out how much distance separates them when they're on opposite sides of the sun, add venus to Jupiter: 886,000,000 kilometers. What the hell, let's round it all off and say that they're 1,000,000,000 kilometers apart. 1 light year = 9.4605284 × 10 to the twelveth kilometers, or 9,460,528,400,000 kilometers So roughly speaking, a light year is about nine and a half thousand times more than the distance between Jupiter and Venus. (I think I figured that right ...) Serabi: Well done! I just wrote it in a hurry with out really thinking the distances through. I stand corrected. duncan124: Jupiter and the Moon will appear close together Friday night , and the Moon will be pink as it is spring according to TVN24. Another rare alignment it seems. smoke4ever: Jupiter's diameter is 88,846 miles. Earth's diameter is 7,926 miles. 100 earth pounds is 250 pounds on Jupiter. Jupiter is a stormy ball of mostly hydrogen and helium, the largest planet looks layered because alternating east and west winds separate zones of varied composition and temperature. Winds in the Great Red Spot hit 400 miles an hour. smoke4ever: Saturns winds may approach 1,000 mph at the equator. Jupiter has 63 moons Saturn has 56 moons Serabi: S4E, imagine how romantic it must be for lovers to sit on a moons-lit night and whisper sweet nothings in each others' ears. Have you seen how the Red spot is changing? Wouldn't it be interesting to have all the answers in our life-time? supernova39: What about other planets life like the Earth ? is there on the galaxy any planet like the Earth, is there life anywhere part of Earth ? what is your opinion ? duncan124: Transits of Jupiter. http://spaceweather.com/images2014/20jan14/moontransits.jpg?PHPSESSID=elv5fb6rqque2kr9b19gcnsdb7 duncan124: There is a lot of radio noise from Jupiter supernova39 and I have found some links to hear it. http://00010xg.wcomhost.com/rjcentral.html Radio equipment http://www.astrosurf.com/luxorion/audiofiles-jupiter.htm Sounds. duncan124: Its not communications even if they sometimes sound like eerie whispered voices. I remember recording some myself and finding out that the boom boom sound was thought to be possibly the effect of ice blocks floating around the planet. the large planets have large amounts of debris around them. NASA then confirmed the scientists theory when its spacecraft visited the area. duncan124: Three moons will cross in January Astronomy Now reports. http://astronomynow.com/2014/12/03/jupiters-moon-dance-and-shadow-play-to-delight-observers/ duncan124: A day on Jupiter is only ten earth hours long. The immense planet spins about twice as fast as Earth. | Science Chat Room 1 Person Chatting Similar Conversations |
