Mars (Page 2) LiptonCambell: I got no idea what you're saying duncan. here's a nifty video! http://www.collegehumor.com/video/6614368/if-other-planets-were-as-close-as-the-moon (Edited by LiptonCambell) Nathaniel Nirvana: if we change mars, defrosting the ice caps & so on, the lifeforms that were on it may come back alive; like those sea type creatures here on earth that rejuvanate when revived with water/oxygen duncan124: Mars God of War In early Roman history he was a god of spring, growth in nature, and fertility, and the protector of cattle. Mars is also mentioned as a chthonic god (earth-god) and this could explain why he became a god of death and finally a god of war smoke4ever: Mars is a planet, not a god. Pagans worshiped the planet as a god, because they rather worship the creation rather than the Creator. (Edited by smoke4ever) LiptonCambell: depends what you mean duncan....if you mean in the dogma, of course every religion would say God came before anything and everything....if you mean when the christian faith formed, well then absolutely not- Mars is way older than the human race. The best guess's put it pretty much at the same age as our own planet- aprox 4.5 billion years old.... LiptonCambell: Lol not all of them. I'm guessing you're refering to carbon dating- theres more than one way to tell the age of something, and theres ALOT of ways to determine the age of our planet(which, it appears, scientists concluded that Mars formed more or less in the same period of time...) smoke4ever: yes, i mean't all dating methods. I agree too that Mars was formed around the same period of time as earth, in the same first 6 days LiptonCambell: Well I'm afraid we'll have to agree to disagree on this one smoke. I strongly support the scientific data, and if the bible was half as accurate as people consider it to be, then it wouldn't contradict scientific facts that were laid out by God. If you truly wish to understand God, i'd say study the world- not a book written by mean 2000 years ago. Because if the world is God's creation, then understanding how the world formed will bring you far closer to them than the bible. LiptonCambell: Satanic? I'm merely suggesting that the world works in a certain order- and if there is a God, this order MUST ONLY EXIST with their consent. Understanding the order of the universe and how it works should give you an intensely intimate understanding of God. Nathaniel Nirvana: Mars is not just a planet, the god of mars resides with the planet, in the same way as what ppl refer to as mother earth resides with Earth LiptonCambell: But "mother earth" is, essentially, life. And, far as anyone can tell, there is no life on Mars; So does that mean that the God of Mars is dead?!! Serabi: I actually believe that the bible has the evolution theory right, except for the "DAY" nonsense. Substitute eons or Milena or billions of years. Look at the bigger picture. Don't take everything in word for word! Think! smoke4ever: if you turn the word day into eons of years then everything can be twisted also. Why do people deny these miracles of creation! duncan124: So was the finding of the God Mars and the finding of the planet Mars coincidental? Smoke "Pagans worshiped the planet as a god...." What makes you say that? Nathaniel Nirvana: the God of Mars cant be dead, just sleeping, as the lifeforms of Mars might be... and the planet isnt dead, just frozen, so the god isnt dead, oh, interesting point, finding the planet & the god being worshiped, ancient ppls seemed to know a lot more about astomony than they ought to have; heard some theory someplace that the stars & planets used to be closer until an event happened and the heavens were closed to Man. some connection with the coming of the moon, causing disaster on Earth & the former gods being overthrown/the heavens being closed, no more to-ing & fro-ing of angelic beings; kinda got off topic but might explain how ppl knew so much about planets & stars before advanced telescopes. all the old pagan gods were overruled by the coming of the sun/son; think pagans worshipped things as gods in the sense of a god being in that form, they could take human/animal form too duncan124: So does the planet Mars cause anything to happen on Earth that could be an action of the God? Or is it the path of the planet across the night sky that made people first call it Mars, because it had a characteristic of some springtime action for example? There doe,s nt seem to be any reason why, except it is red. Nathaniel Nirvana: yeah, maybe, dont see how planetary movements can have zero affect planetary alignment is said to cause changes & trends of Earth, thats kinda astrology tho, red is fire & blood, the question is tho is this the reason ppl assosciate mars with war etc or is its appearance red cuz its the god of Mars associated with war etc and so its/hes red cuz that what it/he is | Science Chat Room 1 Person Chatting Similar Conversations |
