GeraldtheGnome: JANUARY. :

1. : CHRISTIANITY. : EASTERN ORTHODOX CHRISTIANS. : The Feast Day of Basil of Caesarea. For exactly what Countries Eastern Orthodox Christians are in see Wikipedia at the Topic named Eastern Orthodox Church by Country for more information and to see more about Saint Basil the Great then go to the Topic named Basil of Caesarea on Wikipedia. "Basil !" Was there also a Basil the not so Great ?

The Feast of the Circumcision of Christ was celebrated by Eastern Orthodox Christians, Church of England Anglicans, Anglican Church of Canada Anglicans and Lutherans. See the Topics named Church of England, Anglican Church of Canada and Lutheran Church for more information about what Countries and Territories they are in, as well as for any other information about any of them. With the Lutherans it is named The Feast of the Holy Name of Jesus.

The Feast Day of Fulgentius of Ruspe is on for those of the Augustinian Order of The Roman Catholic Church, other Catholics of the Roman Catholic Church and Eastern Orthodox Christians honour him, but the thing is that they celebrate the January 1 without the Feast tied in with it. Just as they did this January 1, 2015.

For what Countries and Territories the Roman Catholics are in then see the Topic named Roman Catholic Church on Wikipedia for more information.

ROMAN CATHOLICS. : The Solemnity of Mary, the Mother of God, the Octave of Christmas, it is considered a Holy Day of obligation in some countries.

The Feast Day of Telemachus.

Zanjan: Why did you pick Christianity? The month of January is the Fast of the 10th Tevet in Judaism. That's pretty big.

GeraldtheGnome: I didn't pick anything, as much as it baffles me to why there is no space used by some people these days so too does the thought that I picked a certain Religion. This Forum is about all Religions and that of all Religious Events for this Year, I did the same last year.

On January 1, which is where I'm starting with this Forum, a lot of Christian Events of various Christian Denominations are on on January 1, then there is Zoroastrianism also that has things going on and as I just found out, Judaism. Tell me more about this Jewish stuff. Meanwhile I will proceed with the Christian and Zoroastrian Events of January 1, this will change as I go through the dates of Religious events throughout the Year of Christianity and that of all other Religions after I get this January 1 stuff out of the way. I was going to add something about Telemachus which I was stumped about, but first I wanted to ask about him before adding anything about him since my sources before that were sketchy at best, that has slightly changed now. I couldn't however do that because you got a message in before I added that to finish off the last message.

JANUARY. : 1. The Feast of Telemachus. I am unsure if he ever existed and there are various Stories about his failed attempt to stop a Gladiator Fight in Rome, which despite the opposing Stories ended up with him being killed and that later on that event gradually brought about the end of all Gladiator Fights, though that is not true because the Gladiator fights came about more than a Thousand years later, even with the fights being performed in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, where I live.

Zanjan: "Tell me more about this Jewish stuff. "

Every religion of God has a fasting period for exactly the same reasons. Various denominations adjust the period or type of fasting, but it's in the top 3 most important religious events of the calendar year.

How important a believer makes it depends on how serious he is about his commitment to God. I know quite a few Jews but none of them fast. I know a lot more Christians but few of them fast; when they do, it might be for a day or two, and they merely opt out of certain foods - not a real fast, in my opinion. I know many Muslims as well - some don't fast, some pretend to fast (intermittent) but a lot more of them actually fast than Christians or Jews.

A Fast is both physical and spiritual discipline; it's purpose is cleansing, renewal and strengthening. The physical part of the Fast is for people who are physically healthy; if one cannot do that part, they can still perform the spiritual aspect of the Fast.

Notice that fasting in January in temperate zones is a lot easier than fasting in July, due to the length of the day and temperatures.

With Festivals and Holy Day commemorations, attendance is not mandatory. Whereas the Fast is a law - this is what puts it in the top religious events category. This is why most people are aware of Lent and Ramadan. The Baha'i Fast is 19 days during March with no food or drink between sunrise and sunset.

Zanjan: On that note, I'd like to remind people that Muslims are not allowed to fight during Ramadan, which begins in June this year. This would be a good time to knock out ISIS, showing them up for the liars they are.

GeraldtheGnome: I didn't ask for what every Religion according to you did, I asked for the specifics about Judaism in January, at the moment I'm only interested in January related stuff, I wanted the Religious names for the Feasts and Days of Judaism in January, especially on January 1 since I'm wanting to do this Chronologically. I've made this Forum a Religious Calendar of Events in a Chronological sequence just as I did last year for all of the Denominations and Religions. I just want to know what I miss out about with Judaism since I know about the Zoroastrian, Muslim and Christian events of January but I know nothing about any of the Jewish events.

They are Religions about God, if God existed is uncertain, but this is about the events not that of God may or may not have existed. So please, I want the specifics about Religious events that, for now, Jews have, not that of a generalization about what that of various Religions do do or are guessed do do during the entire year. Let's get to the other Religions later on, for now I want to focus on Judaism, Zoroastrianism and Chistianity. Let's not get into issues about the ISIS Group for now or about all that is forbidden or broken about Ramadan, if mentioned at all then let it be mentioned on here later. I'm trying to get us to focus on specific events and the details of them, not that of other things unless they are vaguely tied into what I'm mentioning. For now I wish to continue on more about the Story of Telemachus (as well as to that of Gladiator related information in regards to him) and about which Christians see the possibly made up Person Telemachus as being important to them, meanwhile I hope to see specifics about any Jewish events in January, particularly on January 1, mainly due to the fact that you brought my attention to unknown to me Jewish events during January one (I'm guessing) and/or to the remainder of January.

January 1, 2015 is the Fast of Asara B'Tevet, the commemoration of the siege of Jerusalem by Nebuchadnezzar II of Babylonia. It happens again in late December 2015......why, I don't know, but you don't wanna go there anyway.

Jan 20 is Shevat - the Hebrew month of Shevat used to be a tax deadline. They paid in produce from trees whose fruits had to be tithed to the temple. Later, it became the 'Birthday of Trees', a sort of festival. Ask Chay what they do with it these days.

Gerald, anyone can buy a Multi-Faith Calendar. There's no point to this topic if you don't want to discuss how these events work and what people do on them. It's like walking through a cemetery and seeing a marker with a name, the birthday and date of death, nothing else - not even worth the stone their relatives paid for.

On the other hand, if you're interested in biographies of heroes in remote cultures, that seems to me to be a different topic.

GeraldtheGnome: STOP REPEATING MY OWN WORDS ! It's just very rude !

This is not just some bloody Calendar, this is about what the event is and a background on what it is about where ever and whenever possible. If you don't like it then just ignore the Subject, this is not a discussion. I want People to give me insight into the Events not a generalized/generic description, of course it's partly a Calendar too, I also want to know about Religious events that I don't know about. That's why this is here. Thank you for the Jewish stuff though. There is a point to all of this.

Anyway back to Telemachus, Telemachus is a Saint in the Eyes of the Roman Catholics who have a Feast Day for him, I have no idea when they started doing that, he if he existed since there is a doubt that he did, died in either 391 AD or 404 AD in Rome, then a part of the Western Roman Empire, now a part of Italy, it is vaguely mentioned that he died in the Stadium, it never specifies if that was at what we now call The Colosseum or somewhere else in Rome, even how he died and why there are opposing Stories about. It is possible that if he did exist that he was born somewhere in the Eastern Roman Empire. I don't know if Eastern Orthodox Christians were around then or not or if there was that he was one of them, even exactly where he was born and when is unknown. I thank one Person on this site for helping me with this. Technically 391 AD and 404 AD should really be considered to be 390 AD and 403 AD instead though. Relatives paid for a Stone ? What does that mean ? I also don't know if Eastern Orthodox Christians or any other Christians have a Feast Day or anything about Saint Telemachus. Was he related to Saint Telemarketerus ?

Telemachus attempted to stop the Fight, he only delayed it for a a brief amount of time, which ever version you believe he was killed by the Crowd or by a Gladiator or by Gladiators of the fight or by a Roman Guard or by Roman Guards in the Stadium. Eventually or shortly after this, by whichever Story you believe, the Emperor who banned it did so directly during that fight or shortly after then or further down the track, if he and/or any of the Story is correct.

God didn't call him to go there, he Daydreamed that God did, besides God may not have existed then and/or he may not exist now. Jesus may or may not have existed too, he may not exist now even.

Asia Minor was and is an incorrect name.

I've been to Rome and I was at The Colliseum by the way, well to the outside of it. A Tacky 'Reenactor' with Plastic Clothes and Plastic Sword (as well as a Plastic Shield) who wanted 10 Euros if a Photo was taken with him, what a rip off that was, as well as less than I expected. I loved Italy and the Italian Girls, they didn't mind me either.

The Games were sick and evil. There was no Blood on the Swords in the Video.

JANUARY. : 1. World Day of Peace, it is a Feast Day held by Roman Catholics Worldwide, see the Topic named World Peace Day on Wikipedia for more information.

CHRISTIANITY. : EASTERN ORTHODOX CHRISTIANS. : The Feast of the Circumcision of Christ is held on January 1 by Eastern Orthodox Christians Worldwide. Jesus may not have existed in the Past and he may not exist now.

For all the other Eastern Orthodox Christian Commemorations then see the Topic named January 1 (Eastern Orthodox liturgics) on Wikipedia.

It is the eighth of the Twelve Days of Christmas among 'Western' Christians on January 1. See the Topic named Western Christians on Wikipedia for more information.

Technically America includes all of The Americas, also an American and that of all Americans includes everyone that lives within any Country of The Americas.

What does the eight Maids are Milking actually refer to really ?

What exactly are the Twelve Days of Christmas and what is the 8th day of Christmas ? Is it all to do with the Roman Catholics ? Hayley Westenra. YUMMY ! I do watch Songs of Praise at times, that will surprise some People.

There are grammatical/English errors in all of the Videos on here by the way.
