God is Not Evidence, God is Faith

chayim: God does not want evidence, he's all about faith, he only wants faith, because faith is spirit, and God is spirit

xxxWesxxx: If there is no evidence for evolution, then how do you explain intron 9 of the C4 gene? Perhaps, before making such a foolish statement, you learn to think critically, and that means accepting that you don't know everything.

It would be acceptable to say: "I have not seen any evidence for evolution", as this is a statement that accepts limitations in your knowledge. But to assert "There is no evidence" is a positive claim, for which one necessarily must be able to present proof. So what proof do you have? Have you read every single paper in every single field of biology?

xxxWesxxx: Appeal to popularity fallacy. A lie is a lie even if everyone believes it, and the truth is the truth even if no one believes it. The popularity of a belief holds no measure to the truth of it. There was a time when the majority of people believed the Earth was the centre of the universe. Did that make it true?

NATDADDY: I'm didn't know the jewish people practiced faith! I thought they were all about willingness to obey God's law! and if only the Torah matters there is no David, Solomon or temple ever built yet to be rebuilt at the coming of the messiah! so how is the temple or messiah relevant in your belief? theres only the law given and broken again by our sin which is our end so it would seem there is no redemption only Gods Justness to punish us rightly with death,

chayim: Right, the point is to obey God's laws, but there are levels in the spirit, that knowledges God's spirit and glory, and by this the whole world changes, and this means a Messiah and a Temple, that the whole world is completed to God's spirit knowledge and glory

ghostgeek: Quite often I've found it's the individuals who break the rules that find favour with authority, not the ones who follow them. When I was studying art I discovered that if I did as requested nobody paid much attention to me. Rebelling, I started to flout expectations and received not condemnation but praise from my teachers. It may therefore be the case that God appreciates the people who break His laws more than the ones who follow them slavishly.

ghostgeek: Chayi, it seems to me that you Jews must have done something very bad in the past to have to obey over 600 laws while the Christians only have to observe ten commandments. Care to reveal to the rest of us what it was you all did wrong.

ghostgeek: Well, blow me down Chayi. Christians only have to observe seven commandments and they're following ten. I reckon they should get some brownie points for going the extra mile, don't you. But that doesn't explain why you Jews are such masochists. Convert to Christianity and you have 606 fewer rules to follow. Seems like a no-brainer to me.

Zanjan
Zanjan: I once asked my Mormon sister if she believed in killing witches and in polygamy'; she said "Of course, but we have to obey the laws of the land". History records that, initially, Mormons didn't obey those laws but most were eventually forced into it by government. This appears to be the same for everyone.

However, there are special provisions in many countries that have shown consideration for people by conditions and ability. For example, the military draft and taxes might not apply to certain individuals and/or groups.
