Islam or Atheism - Which is More Rational? (Page 2) (Post deleted by One Bar ) (Post deleted by One Bar ) LiptonCambell: Lol its funny- you're proving me right! Atheism is simply rejecting one more God than salim there. Salim, why do you reject all other Gods? Is there any reasons beyond either "I haven't read about the other Gods" or "The Quar'an advises me against researching other Gods"? (Post deleted by One Bar ) (Post deleted by One Bar ) LiptonCambell: How did you come to that conclusion? You criticize us for not reading the qua ran- why have you not read other religious texts? If i were to follow your example, then i shouldnt be reading the qua ran either (Post deleted by One Bar ) orkanen: As one of many errors in the Quran, I mention the belief that the earth is flat, directly or indirectly described in verses as follows: 18:47, 18:86, 18:90, 20:53, 27:61, 36;38, 36;40, 45:10, 45:38, 78:6 and 79:30 orkanen: As I'm also aware that one of the more famous Muslim apologists, Adnan Oktar, claims one word, translated meaning to spread out, can also be twisted to mean egg-shaped, as a form of it describes an ostrich's nest. I've read the Quran. It's a pain to read, I've never forced myself through a more poorly written book in my life. My favourite chapter is #86, where Mohammad, in verses 5 - 7 describes how people are created, wrongly, then in verses 13 - 14 says something in the lines of "look, we iz sciency". I was pointed to this chapter by some Muslim trying to show me how peaceful Islam is, I guess they didn't expect me to check, finding they misquoted the last verse in that chapter. I hope for your sake that you one day manage to see religious scriptures for what they really are. As historical documents, they are valuable, displaying culture and attitude at the time they were written, but as guides to how to conduct your life, no value whatsoever. Perdurabo: 'By the scientific miracles in the Quran' Oh look its this thread again! Im sure Allah just sent u guys here to try my patience. This whole deal about there being 'science in the Quran' started when muslims became aware of the book 'The Bible, the Qur'an and Science" by Mr. Baucille. Before this time, NO muslim declared such a thing. There is NO science in the Quran. This is the reason why Scientists dont use the Quran as a scientific reference. This is the reason why we dont have copies of the Quran in every science lab throughout the world. What Mohammad accepted as 'science' were just basic ideas plagiarised from the Greeks, the Jews, the Persians etc Muslims tend to to do things in reverse. They read Science BACK into the text of the Quran. The reason why Muslims reveal the 'science' AFTER the real scientific discovery has been made. This usually takes the form of a lot of fancy wording and theory to validate some ambiguous verse from the Quran, which is heralded as being of divine origin. Because of this alleged scientific verification of the Quran, must be sufficent evidence proving that God inspired it. I think this is a very dangerous game that Muslims play, trying to interpolate modern science back into the Quran. If new scientific evidence is discovered and it disproves what is being claimed today, then it would prove that Allah, the Muslim God, is wrong and ignorant about science. But of course, when faced with the possibility of science contradicting an accepted Quranic verse, Muslims will very quickly dismiss these interpretations as being misunderstandings. (Edited by Perdurabo) cuarl: Oh the question in itself is so irrational that any answer that is not what you want it to be will be discarded. Atheism or as I rather call it, non-believer, Is being rational Faith is having faith. Its in the name (!?) It all comes down to if you believe that the Quran, or the bible for that matter, is a book from the words of god or simply written by men. Religion used to be about "faith". Now for some weird reason religion tries to become rational science? I believe religion will die out sooner or later as our knowledge spread but it would survive much longer if it just simply stayed as "faith" not tried to mix in to science and logic. Perdurabo: Even during the Golden Age of Arabic Science, no-one ever proclaimed the Quran as scientific textbook. This whole 'science in the Quran' thing is a recent phenomena. ProfCandyRivers: @salim4barca:If you were sick, would you pray or look to medical science and consult a doctor? Zardha: "Now for some weird reason religion tries to become rational science? I believe religion will die out sooner or later as our knowledge spread but it would survive much longer if it just simply stayed as "faith" not tried to mix in to science and logic." That's exactly it, Cuarl. Religious leaders realise that they have little appeal nowadays, when intelligent people look through their smokecreen, so they try every trick in the book to retain their appeal, especially among young individuals. One such idea is to identify their faith with scientific theories, but I think that it's easy enough to look through, too. smoke4ever: Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to your care. Turn away from godless chatter and the opposing ideas of WHAT IS FALSELY CALLED KNOWLEDGE, which some have professed and in so doing have WANDERED FROM THE FAITH.
