Davidk there you go again. I have repeatedly told you over the years what my idea of Anarchy is.It is a system based on customary law. If you want to debate Anarchy I am quite happy to discuss it in the Anarchy club or start a thread.

David responds:

I started this thread once I read about Jack’s idea of anarchy based on customary law. Not knowing what he meant by customary law, I did a quick search and found this:

“..Custom in law is the established pattern of behavior that can be objectively verified within a particular social setting. A claim can be carried out in defense of "what has always been done and accepted by law." Related is the idea of prescription; a right enjoyed through long custom rather than positive law.[1]

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Custom_(law)

I had posted a description of the word anarchism.

“…A political theory holding all forms of governmental authority to be unnecessary and undesirable and advocating a society based on voluntary cooperation and free association of individuals and groups

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/anarchism

So, 'society' based on custom and not positive law?

Whose custom?

How far reaching is the custom? People that live within a mile? 5 miles?

There are no city, counties or states or for that matter country boundaries.

So, the first question is….whose custom and how far reaching is the custom?

Second question is what happens when customs collide? How do they get resolved?

What about opposite opposing customs and who determines if a custom is morally acceptable? For example, the customs of ISIS Islamic extremists vs. Non-ISSI like you and me.

Lots of questions to discuss.

What do you think?

R E B E C C A: hmm maybe he needs time to look up what he's talking about....though that doesn't normally stop him. This should be interesting to see how he thinks totalitarianism and anarchism will work together .
