this is a howl and a half - Sarah Palin for Senate!!!

davesdatahut
davesdatahut: Some in the Tea Parties are apparently talking about recruiting Sarah Palin to go back to Alaska to run for the Senate. Haw haw haw. This is a howl and a half! The nation's idiot, back in the race for public office! I can just hear her and Michele Bachmann sitting around concocting stupid-isms. Moderate and liberals have got to jumping with glee at this prospect. Not to mention late-night talk show hosts.
While some smart Republicans and conservatives try to save themselves and the right wing from gradual political oblivion, the Tea Party clowns apparently see no reason for any amount of self-reflection and reality checks at all!
Following this story should be rich.
See here for one article about it:

jennebraska: Ah, I agree with that. As a woman I was really hoping Palin would be real go-getter and have something akin to common sense. But she seems to me just a barbie doll that likes dressing up, showing off and not really getting a whole lot done. She was a disappointment, and even more so that people actually think she is a good candidate. When will we as a nation stop electing people who screen test well instead of people who have common sense?

davesdatahut: She is a testament to the power of a pretty face and a nice pair of tits in America, crude and blunt as that may sound.

jennebraska: Yes, indeed that sounded crude, but the reality is, that is the face of America today. Still doesn't explain Hillary Clinton though.

davesdatahut: Oh she sure did get my attention, and not in any admiring way. The only talk about her worth having is to duly take note of her as another in a long list of symptoms of what ails this country.

LOL!
No love lost between you and SP. I get it.

davesdatahut: Jen...Hillary Clinton is a much more complicated explanation. She clearly rode the Clinton name to power, but she is no intellectual lightweight. It's impossible to say whether she would have gotten anywhere in politics without him, but it's certainly possible.

jennebraska: Hmmm, I agree but then that is because I only know from her answering questions about the Libya affair that she is corrupt and uncompassionate as political figures. I just don't get it, when will we value woman for their intelligence and honesty, vs. their looks. Anyway , good discussion, pardon my spelling.

davesdatahut: There certainly are plenty of women who have gone very far in politics without great looks. Olympia Snowe, Barbara Boxer, Nancy Pelosi, Sonya Sotomayor to name a few. Regardless of whether you agree with them, it is a safe bet to say they didn't get to where they are based their looks. And then there are the Palins and Bachmanns of the world, who appear to have absolutely nothing else to bring to the table other than a pretty face.

Stassi SUR: Sarah Palin is Sarah Palin because of Sara Palin.

Hillary is Hillary Clinton because of Bill Clinton.

Big difference.

I respect SP for that.

Stassi SUR: Umm, I just googled Bachman--she is an accomplished Tax Attorney and a lawmaker.
Well educated and a great mom to several kids.

She is more than a pretty face. Ditto with SP.

davesdatahut: Bachman is indeed a lawyer. And a foster parent to a lot of children. That much we can say. As far as a lawmaker, that is kinda like saying Palin is a lawmaker. Except there aint much law that either has made. She is among the members of Congress who can be depended on to regularly say kooky shit, but she has almost no power. There is virtually no significant legislation that can be connected to her name.

Stassi SUR: You can say the same about B.O. when he was a senator. No significant accomplishment and always voted not present?

Yet he was elected president.

davesdatahut: We aren't talking about Obama, we are talking about Palin. If need be, though, we can discuss the intellectual heft of Obama, which would crush the miniscule command of the issues that Palin displays. And this may be overly kind to Palin.

Succinct Verbosity: The tea party must really be feeling the pressure given their current exile by sane members of the Republican party. I don't think these guys have figured out that being the most vocal doesn't necessarily mean you have the most support.

davesdatahut: The Tea Partiers are free to pursue Palin for a Senate bid, in the name of ideological purity. They are also free to get stomped like a bug and see their cause further marginalized. It's like sitting at table and pounding your fist until everyone else shuts up. They stop. They wait for you to yell whatever you have to say. And then they resume their discussion without you.
I am the last person to say our political system isn't rotting toward the core because it has deep, deep problems. But you don't solve the problems with a two-bit intellectual midget who rose to fame through little more than a political stunt.
