Morally conservative republicans going back into hiding.

Succinct Verbosity
Succinct Verbosity: So, I'm interested in the lack of discussion over a very clear change of stance within the republican party to regain middle-ground support. In the past few weeks, a republican candidate and notable members of the right-wing press -Bill O'Reilly- have conceded defeat and come out in support of gay marriage; is this the only policy change we can expect from republicans as they clean house and disassociate themselves from the far right in their party or are we about to see the party make far more concessions in order to support floating voters in a few years?

Republicans Sign Brief in Support of Gay Marriage

Dozens of prominent Republicans — including top advisers to former President George W. Bush, four former governors and two members of Congress — have signed a legal brief arguing that gay people have a constitutional right to marry, a position that amounts to a direct challenge to Speaker John A. Boehner and reflects the civil war in the party since the November election.

MichaeI: Enter Dr. Benjamin Carson. A true Conservative and also the guy who stuck it to Obama right in his face. I won't dispute what you wrote because it's true. Republicans have no back-bone and they are flip-flopping like a fish out of water just to pander some votes. It's quite sickening really because there's no sincerity behind it.

On the other hand, you can't tell me that Hillary and Bill Clinton are sincere with their flip flop either. Keep in mind that Bill signed DOMA into law and now all the sudden he's for it? Bull-spit. Also, isn't it a little convenient that Hillary Clinton has also flip-flopped and now supports it? Surely she's not pandering to get ready for the 2016 campaign.

Bottom line is this, both parties are insincere and I'm not happy with any of them. Last person I thought that would flip is Bill O-Reilly. I will be voting for Dr. Benjamin Carson come 2016. A man that sticks to his beliefs, agree with him or not, you have to respect that. Especially a man that basically tells Obama in his face and on his own turf that his policies suck.

Succinct Verbosity: I'm going to argue the case that a lot of politicians -republicans and democrat- supported gay marriage but were too afraid to come out in favour it because nobody thought you could win an election on that basis.

Now, sure, there may be moral flip-floppers, but I honestly believe that Obama winning an election with an endorsement for same-sex marriage has shown other politicians that it isn't an unelectable viewpoint.

The point is, the opposing view -to come out against same-sex marriage- is now becoming the unpopular decision. But let's put it this way, before this issue came up Obama helped abolition of don't ask don't tell... An issue seen as stupendously important to republicans, and once it passed, it was met with apathy. So, yeah, on the specific issue of same-sex marriage you can conclude Obama of opportunistic flip-flopping, but he's certainly been in favour of abolishing certain inequalities before that. I'd like to see a morally conservative republican lame claim to such a feat.

In fact it seems people smoking it public a lot now a days rather brazenly, in the last 4 days I saw (and smelled) people smoking it on the beach, downtown, at a bus stop, in front of safeway, ON THE BUS, and at a baseball game, its like better than amserdam or something
