Why New Zealand should be invaded.

GeraldTheGnome
GeraldTheGnome: YouTube None of it is to be taken seriously and yes New Zealand does have a defence force, I talked to a guy from the New Zealand Army in Auckland last year, he's the only member of the army there. PMSL

GeraldTheGnome: They invaded us (in Australia) first ? I wonder if the Kiwis have because unofficially Bondi Beach is a 'western suburb' of Auckland.

GeraldTheGnome: Rugby ? Who cares about the All Blacks ! Australia doesn't have a unified national football competition in any code. AFL Football competition is the major code in Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia and Rugby League (the NRL) is the major code in Queensland (where I am) and New South Wales (yet ironically it also includes a team from New Zealand though the competition is named National Rugby League. As for the next code down from them, it is Rugby Union/Rugby/Union. I have a derogatory name for that game, one you wouldn't like, but most of the time, but not always, the All Blacks are better. In the Rugby League, my kind of game, there is a international competition where the Australian side usually thrashes the Kiwis.

OCD_OCD: I guess everything I have seen in documentaries, plus what I've read, leads me to believe that life in New Zealand can be harsh. I was forwarded to this article by a person who had emigrated to NZ and said that you should have your eyes open before you even consider it.

OCD_OCD: "Can't Eat the Scenery

Let's face it - the only thing NZ has going for it is the scenery so it's used as a draw to get over-skilled migrants to put up with excessive taxation on crap salaries, arcane working practices, expensive goods, poor environmental standards and god-awful houses whilst any Kiwi worth his salt is earning masses of cash and living it up in Oz/Middle East/Europe. Kiwis aren't daft y'know,
Scenery? best kept for holidays.

xox G xox: The Wiki link information is rather miss informing OCD and that other link n c/p statement ...yer well really its from 2009

NZ has a lot to offer and yes has its issues but what country doesnt.

Terrible house ....what a crock of shit, public housing maybe but ive never lived in public housing to judge. My Aunts, Uncles and Cousins all own their own homes plus have investment properties and all are just as fine as what i have here in Oz.

Wages arent as high as here in Oz (this does also depend on what industry you're comparing it to) but shit we get taxed through the nose here. EG: hubby paid over $70k in tax last financial year, yes he earns big but the government takes a nice big slice.

Cost of living is every bit as high and NZ.

Considering the GFC shattered many European countries I wouldn't be so quick to say they are far better in standards and conditions. Even the US has their financial and social issues and I for one wouldn't be rushing to live their. I find the US very unappealing due to their 'right to bear arms'

Youll always have people who think the grass is greener in another country but its not until you actually spend time there to get a first hand informed view can you really form an honest opinion.

We took the family back in Feb 2009 for a holiday, we found it perfect for what we wanted to experience.
