Marijuana Legalized (Page 3)

Mask Of Dionysus
Mask Of Dionysus: If i want, i can go to the government office, called "Calm" to get my weed............i don't do that because the government is trying to get the 'stone' out, not realising the 'stone' is the medicine..........How many medical drugs did you take that totally got you stoned?

Comrade_: The only plus side I'm seeing is that State can be observed.
I've read the dangers of marijuana and driving. Something is put in place for this?

Coffrey: Well the thing is, whether or not it's legalized, people are still going to smoke and drive. The kind of person that wouldn't smoke it because it's illegal is generally the same kind of person who wouldn't then smoke and drive. I'm sure there's a way we can test it somehow, but that's only if adults start having the conversation about the usage instead of the "abstinence" children talking about it now. Even so, that's no more an argument against pot being legalized than it is for alcohol to remain legal, and I know it's only anecdotal, but when was the last time you heard about a smoke and drive that ended up in a massive fatal accident?

Comrade_: I've heard it happens but reality is as it is illegal, most *smoke it at home. I would let marijuana stand on its own grounds as alcohol isn't a problem, the issue with alcohol is too much of it.

EatTheSuperRich: In Australia the Police and Dept of transport use a simple side of the road tongue swab test to determine if drivers could be under the influence of many kinds of drugs (such as dope or meth amphetamines) and whether further testing is needed. Also most dope is grow and sold by bikie gangs. So the legalization or decriminalization of dope takes away a large part of their income.
Taxing would allow the health Depts to have access to money for and health issues raised.
As for comments about the war on drugs being lost it was lost long ago and has become an expensive white elephant.
Decriminalization allows the authorites to spend time and money on the other more damaging drugs sold by the drug gangs into our communities.

Unfortunately in Australia we will continue to turn young ppl into criminals by continuing to prosecute and brand them as criminals for the rest of their lives for the possession of as little as 1/2 ounce of weed. which they often grew in their back yards.

Do I use weed? yes maybe every 2 months or so.
I think the decriminalization of weed is a smart move.

Plus before synthetic fibre was invented hemp was an important source of fibre in industry, and had few of the environmental issues associated with man made fibres.

Bona Fide_Diva001: I think people should be persecuted for having it, selling it, or whatever. It's a drug, it's illegal, and needs to stay that way. People try to justify it's "benefits" to get high. And that is the only reason.

Nathaniel Nirvana
Nathaniel Nirvana: yes it is (& Florence Nightingale got her nickname heroine from heroin from the soldiers) & it's also harmful to the good bacteria that keeps balence in the body, potentially without which yeast & fungus type things become too much in abundance leading to all sorts of other imbalences/health problems (possibly even a trigger for some cancers as it effects immunity) ....my point is there are benefits to medicines (drugs) but none are without potential harm
one (of many) reasons for some to be available easily, or on script or illegal is not simply the harm they can do but to do with the power of the pharmeucetical companies & their (money) influence over such ppl as the regulating bodies for approval

EatTheSuperRich: Over subscription by the medical industry, incorrect use by the customer and over use by the farming industry of antibiotics has resulted in the current situation where super bugs exist and unless new antibiotics are found with in a few years we will be in big trouble. With out effective antibiotics things like heart surgury will no longer be possible.
