WASHINGTON — The White House said President Obama misspoke Tuesday when he referred to a “Polish death camp.”

The President’s remark had drawn immediate complaints from Poles who said Obama should have said a “German death camp in Nazi-occupied Poland.” Polish Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski called it a matter of “ignorance and incompetence.”

Obama made the comment while awarding the Medal of Freedom to Jan Karski, a resistance fighter against the Nazi occupation of Poland during World War II.

National Security Council spokesman Tommy Vietor said: “The President misspoke. He was referring to Nazi death camps in Poland."

Do you know where the Auschwitz Concentration Camp is?

Even when the Polish and US Governments both said there was, and they were shown on TV and in the Newspapers. In fact I have been there myself.

It is a criminal offense to say there is no concentration camp[s] in Poland.

The fact that when President Obama spoke about them the Polish Government confused the issue is a serious matter.
