Obama Vows to Veto House GOP's bill to extend payroll tax cut (Page 4) Outbackjack: You make no sense and refuse to back up your posts with facts. OCD? I think not but you are definitely away with the fairies. Outbackjack: Then your posts are unimportant. I asked a reasonable question. You claim that people are forced to join unions. This is obviously not the case or you would have backed up what you say. OCD_OCD: "Under the NLRA, you cannot be required to be a member of a union or pay it any monies as a condition of employment unless the collective bargaining agreement between your employer and your union contains a provision requiring all employees to either join the union or pay union fees." In other words, they have the ability to make you join if it is part of their collective bargaining agreement between the employer and the union. That means that "yes" it can and does occur. Even if you choose not to be a member, you still have to pay their union dues. (Edited by OCD_OCD) (Post deleted by southern77 ) (Post deleted by southern77 ) Outbackjack: So you admit finally that people are not forced to join unions. They can choose to pay fees instead. I understand where you are going with this now.I reckon its a great idea as we dont have this in Australia.I got sick and tired off all the freeloading scabs getting a pay rise on our sites when we paid our union dues. Unions negotiators provide a service and that is to get more money out of the employer in the form of wages. These freeloaders would break picket lines whilst we were on strike and get the benefit of extra pay.Bravo to the states in the U.S that make them pay. Outbackjack: Call it what you like. You have probably never done anything that is empowering and involves unions.(waits for some bullshit story) Outbackjack: Your opinion.I have done quite nicely by being an active member in them thank you very much. OCD_OCD: Union members do "quite nicely" because they suck the life out of the organizations that employ them through strikes and "negotiations" for more and more. Outbackjack: The organisations/corporations I worked for were some of the biggest around and they are still raking in billions. Maybe you could start your own union. The sympathy union for the poor billionaires who are doing it tough. My heart bleeds OCD_OCD: Extortion is extortion. No matter who does it. You merely appreciate union extortion because it benefits you, yet you rail against extortion on Wall Street. Hypocritical much? OCD_OCD: Let me say it again. Extortion is extortion no matter who does it. You merely appreciate union extortion because it benefits you, yet you rail against extortion on Wall Street. Outbackjack: I dont call it extortion at all.Every worker has the right to withdraw their labour in protest.Employers are forever coercing workers into doing unpaid work. The threat of dismissal is outright extortion especially when the employee is unskilled and/or has a family to support.Employers that know this usually play power games with vulnerable people who have little choice. The Employers mantra is "Find a willing horse and flog it to death." So stuff them. You take your misguided sympathies elsewhere because you will get bugger all sympathy for the Employers out of me. I bet you are an employer/capitalist. OCD_OCD: Damn straight I'm an employer. I hire people and the jobs they are given is paid for by my labour, my capital outlay and my knowledge. I don't have to suck the life out of another company to earn my wages, either. Outbackjack: HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!! That says it all. "Show me a Capitalist and I will show you a bloodsucker." Malcolm X OCD_OCD: show me someone who is not willing to live by their own labor rather than taking it from someone else and I will show you a leech on society's ass OCD | Politics Chat Room 24 People Chatting Similar Conversations |
