Palestinians in efforts to be recognized as a state. (Page 4)

Sarcastic Dots
Sarcastic Dots: I found it. Kudos to the BBC for actively allowing both sides to have a voice, but this article wasn't written by the BBC and is effectively an opinion peace. You really shouldn't have cut out the first two paragraphs because it totally changes the article's context.

"Yossi Klein Halevi, an Israeli author and political commentator, argues that all the Palestinians need to do to get a state is to convince Israelis that this state does not represent a threat.

Palestinian leaders are presenting their bid for upgraded UN status as a desperate move prompted by Israeli intransigence. In asserting this they are counting on the amnesia of the international community."

I never said it wasn't an opinion piece nor did I intentionally cut the two paragraphs.

These two paragraphs however do not change the facts of the article nor the conclusion.

As I have stated in other threads, as was stated in this article, it all comes down to Right of Return. As the article states, it would be the end of the Jewish State of Israel and no one denies it is a goal of the Palestinians. Everything else can be worked out as the article stated. But, the Palestinians will continue to focus on that sticking point and peace will not happen.

hiddenbook: United States attacked to Iraq to export and constitute democracy, but in reality it was for petro-dollars, actually exploitation.

United States and the UN wanted Palestinians to make free elections in democracy light, and Palestinian citizens elected Hamas as their representatives. Then Western countries didn't accept this result. However, they had wanted democracy from Palestinians, and Palestinians had applied the requirements of democracy, but Western countries didn't like the outcome.

These two examples show the politics of Western countries, full of lies..

A state must be established for Palestinians, it is not anyone's business, but Palestinians, that Hamas or Fatah or whatever rules that state.

Hamas wants to destroy Israeli state, and because of that they are labelled as "terrorists".
How shall we label Israel which has killed the innocent people for decades?

Be a decent person, and tell the truths.

Truth - It is a fact that the goal of Hamas is to destroy the State of Israel.

Truth - It is a fact that the Palestinians elected Hamas to represent them.

Truth - It is a fact that the Palestinians are responsible for the actions of Hamas.

Truth - It is a fact that Israel will defend itself from the attacks of Hamas and who ever else supports Hamas.

Truth - It is also a fact that Israel allows tons of humanitarian aid into the Gaza every day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Now, does that sound like Israel is killing innocent people? Of course not.

hiddenbook: Truth - Israel was killing innocent Palestinian people before Hamas represents all Palestinians. Actually, this issue is not related with Hamas, but the ideology of Jewish state, Zionism.

Truth - Since Israel has been the murderer of Palestinians since before 1948, and occupied nearly all Palestinian territory, someone must have asserted the rights of Palestinians. For Hamas, the solution is to destroy Israeli state, because the problem started with the steps for foundation of State of Israel.

Truth - With Israeli assault on "Mavi Marmara" ship, we realized that how Israeli is helpful, humanitarian: 9 peace activists were killed by Israeli soldiers while the ship was on the international water.

Question - You believe that Israel allows tons of humanitarian aid into Gaza. Have you ever thought about that why Palestinians need humanitarian aid? (see: blockade to Gaza)

Truth - Since Israel is the murderer of innocent people, it is a "terrorist state".

Truth - Palestine has the right to be recognized as a state in the UN, and it will happen with the help of brave and just countries, in contrast to the Israeli state which was founded with the help of colonial Britain in 1948.

Gerald said:

Hamas doesn't represent ALL Palestinians. Where is the proof that Hamas represents most Palestinians ? Where is the proof that Hamas represent all or most of the people in Gaza ? In what way do you mean represent ? Do they represent ALL by all that oppose them in the areas they are in fearing them and afraid to do anything against them because it may endanger their lives or bring something bad to them ?

David responds:

Hamas was elected by the Palestinians in open democratic elections. Now, if the Palestinian people did not elect Hamas, that’s a different story.

“On January 25, 2006, elections were held for the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC), the legislature of the Palestinian National Authority (PNA). Notwithstanding the 2005 municipal elections and the January 9, 2005 presidential election, this was the first election to the PLC since 1996; subsequent elections had been repeatedly postponed due to the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Palestinian voters in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank including East Jerusalem were eligible to participate in the election.

Final results show that Hamas won the election, with 74 seats to the ruling-Fatah's 45, providing Hamas with the majority of the 132 available seats and the ability to form a majority government on their own.”

Hamas legally represents the Palestinians and until new elections take place, that’s the way it is.

Gerald,

Who do you think who is currently in the Israeli government should be brought up on charges of murder, found guilty, and then be executed?

Really? You don't even give arguments for these and you just accuse hiddenbook's words to be 'false truths'? Just like that? Not even a little bit of consideration? If you don't agree with it, state rebuttals then. Please, I want to know why they are 'false truths' too.

Arguments are healthy. Arguments bring the truth out into the light of day. Whether or not you want to believe what the truth is just that, whether you want to believe it or not. For hiddenbook to make a blanket statement, "Israel has been the murderer of Palestinians since before 1948" is ridiculous and does not even come close to representing the truth or reality and then for you to come out of nowhere and to condemn me? Seriously?

PARIS | Tue Nov 8, 2011 3:25pm EST

PARIS (Reuters) - French President Nicolas Sarkozy branded Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu "a liar" in a private conversation with U.S. President Barack Obama that was accidentally broadcast to journalists during last week's G20 summit in Cannes.

"I cannot bear Netanyahu, he's a liar," Sarkozy told Obama, unaware that the microphones in their meeting room had been switched on, enabling reporters in a separate location to listen in to a simultaneous translation.

"You're fed up with him, but I have to deal with him even more often than you," Obama replied, according to the French interpreter.

The technical gaffe is likely to cause great embarrassment to all three leaders as they look to work together to intensify international pressure on Iran over its nuclear ambitions.

The conversation was not initially reported by the small group of journalists who overheard it because it was considered private and off-the-record. But the comments have since emerged on French websites and can be confirmed by Reuters.

Adam,

You have no idea about Israeli politics much less how a democracy works. So perhaps you should read up on how democracies work before making yourself look silly.
