Syria ALL ASSAD (Page 5) Lora123: In 1970, four unarmed protesters were killed by national guard troops at Kent State University in Ohio in the United States. Those four deaths affected Americans so much, the citizens forced their government to end the U.S. involvement in the Vietnam war. In February, 1982, between 10,000 and 40,000 Syrians were killed by the Syrian army in the city of Hama, Syria. The Assad family remained in power, and remains in power to this day. There are always protests in western nations. It is part of the freedom we enjoy. But the Canadian Army has never killed 10,000 Canadians. And they never will. That is the difference between democracy and dictatorship. XxDaddyDemonTakerxX: so u guys ended the vitenam war cause of 4 deaths in USA but not for all the deaths in Vietnam ,,, in 1945 the USA dropped a nuclear bomb over Japan and killed entire 2 cities population ,,,,, u dont get to talk about crimes of a regime here ,,, XxDaddyDemonTakerxX: Muslims brotherhood was committing terrorists actions in Damascus ,,, they did so many terrorists actions my mother tells me about ,, there was this school bus was bombed by them ...and Hama ppl were letting them in .. they were giving them all the support they wanted they even resisted the goverment forces .... im not saying that gives them the right to bomb the city ,,but since u know much about what happened there u probably know that the one who was in charge back then was "Rifaat Alassad" brother of Hafez Al Assad ,,,, cause Hafez was being treated from cancer then ,.... and after Hafez got back in charge what did he do to his brother /?? where does Rifaat live now and why ? and isnt he supporting the opposition in Syria ? adam_000: bashar asad is a tyrant dog and its the shame the whole world are allowing him to massacre his people when will any1 stand up to him. i think similar action that happened in libya needs to be taken in syria because he must be held accountable for the civilians he has killed davidk14: . JD: Just keep that in mind that WE did drop two thermonuclear devices on our enemy and if you don't think we will again, you're mistaken. And if you think Israel won't use nuclear devices in her defense, you definitely are mistaken. . lavendar_star: Are you serious davidk14, you would want your country(which thankfully even with a right wing government I doubt would ever do that again) drop a Nuclear bomb killing millions of innocent man, women and children, (have you seen the horrific images from Vietnam and Russia on the affects of nuclear weapons!!!!! thankfully I'm assured that many Americans would disagree with your alarming statement. These hateful and some what violence comments on these topic pages are very disturbing and in my opinion show the worst of humanity; be it the hate filled antisemitism or your callous comment on dropping nuclear bombs on people. I think this perceived threat or dislike of the other is one of the significant crisis affecting humanity. As for the Syria I not 100% sure whats going on in that country but if peaceful protest is happening and they are been stopped using violence that is wrong, as the citizens of any nation are with their rights to do so. Peace davidk14: . If the US is attacked, especially with biological, chemical or nuclear weapons, yes, she will respond in self defense. Do you really think the US will just sit back and take the attacks without responding? If the attackers know the US will not respond, then the attacks WILL come. And I'm sort of confused...star said "have you seen the horrific images from Vietnam and Russia on the affects of nuclear weapons?" The US has not used nuclear weapons on anyone since 1945. Of course I pray that no one, anywhere, uses nuclear, chemical or biological weapons on anyone...ever. However, if they do attack the US with these horrible devices, they need to know that we will respond. You may believe my comment is callous, it is. But it needs to be said. You attack us, we will respond. . XxDaddyDemonTakerxX: david ,,, was The US attacked by a nuclear biological chemical weapon when they dropped nuke bombs on japan ?? were u guys attacked by a nuclear weapon when u used uranium shells in Iraq ,,, dont tell me I have no proof for that cause it was said by the human rights watch besides ,,, its likely that u would use a nuke weapon I wont be shocked if u do in any next war ..... dont talk to me like ur in self defense ,,,each and every war the us got into in the last 60 years was the offensive side not defensive wars ... lavendar_star: Well Davidk14 if that happens the whole worlds going to hell so to speak and the whole of humanity will be dead I guess thats what the Christians call the Apocalypse. lol I doubt anyone will use weapons of that nature on America as you guys are the granddaddy of nuclear, chemical and bio weapons and I think you have the biggest stockpile and in some instance sell it to other nations as well. I meant the nuclear spill with Russia and the affects of Napalm in regards to Vietnam. Hate meets hate. scary. I'm hope I not here if it happens as Hollywood has shown us the world is not a nice place to live if you survive a nuclear war. if any survive, but that what diplomacy all about, i.e. peace talks davidk14: . The US used nukes on Japan during a declared war. The US was attacked and we responded with everything we had in response to that attack and to the declaration of war by Japan on the US. This is the lesson to be learned by you and others that consider attacking the United States. Perhaps if we already had nukes prior to the Pearl Harbor attack, the Japanese would not have attacked at all. The US used the nukes to END the war which they did within days. The President at the time decided that using them would save many more lives than the bombs killed. Especially American lives. This is a historical fact. Lesson to be learned, you attack the US, we will respond. Regarding Israel, why do you really think Israel is still there? It's because they (supposedly) have Nukes. Israel, population 5.5 million, is surrounded by 300 million Arabs, most of them hostile to her. You think she would still be there without the nuclear deterrence? Why do you think everyone is shaking in their boots if Iran gets the bomb especially since the Iranians have time and time again threatened Israel with her existence? . (Post deleted by XxDaddyDemonTakerxX ) lavendar_star: I am not getting involved in a Arab versus Jewish debate. You are probably right that having the weapons helps the Israel defend itself against violence. But its still all very ugly and to me its hard to see who had the moral high ground, as for most Arabs hating Jews that seems to be big generalisation. I remember I did stuff at school on the middle east, its just sad that the whole conflict be it with religion, who is right or wrong etc still hasn't been resolved nearly 20 yrs later, I just hope it can be resolved within the next 20yrs. I am human so,I hope it can one be resolved, maybe I am being idealistic but I rather that then for humanity to implode on itself. Peace nellie77: HMMM so we want to argue about Democracy and a Dictatorship? there are positives and negatives on both accounts, In principle i think democracy is better, but in practicality its not that simple... Althought the Arab world has a reputation of authoritarianism there is a lot of support for democracy. Tessler and Gao (2005) say that "the data from the most recent round of the World Values Survey (WVS), carried out between 1999 and 2002, reveal broad support for democracy among Arab men and women. So what seems to be the problem? Why the democracy is so hard to achieve after all? Could there be some better solutions how Western countries could help with this process? Alon Ben-Meir (2006) says that "the Arab states have much in common - religion, language and history. " Due to this there are four core measures that can be pursued in the region to effect democratic reforms: pursue gradual changes, provide economic incentives, develop democratic institutions and reform educational system (Ben-Meir, 2006). I agree with Ben-Meir that it is important to understand the cultural diffrences and respect them. If Western world wants to help the Arab world to achieve democracy, it must be made carefully and not by forcing the states to the same democracy models that we have in the Western World... (Please notice that even thought I have used quite old references about the situation of democracy in the Arab world, there have not actually been a lot of improvement. Kirat, Mohamed (2005). Public relations practice in the Arab World: A critical assessment. Public Relations Review. Vol.31, Issue 3, 323-332. mtch1987: emolia, come stay at my house in america. yuou are welcome excuse the rated R pic, i did not mean to make it my profile WhiteCloud2: nellie makes sense ..but media could be another form of dictatorship even within what is called democratic context. When media tells people what to think ..hide aspects of the issues etc.. its what western controlled media do ..people transformed into sheep who think they r electing what was put on their minds!!!! WhiteCloud2: davidk all the nukes in the world will not save u ..when the time comes u ll be runing like headless chickens... davidk14: . Hummm...I just don't think you understand the power that the US Military possesses. It's not the weapons as much as that we have the best trained army, navy, air force, and marines in the world. And what is more important than that, are the Americans that wear those uniforms. And if that isn't enough, the citizens of the United States own more fire arms than all of the military and police combined. Headless chickens? Not to be disrespectful, but you're just completely uninformed and your statement is at best, ridiculous. . CourtGesture: 3 - Assad probably is fairly intelligent. 4 (II) - No one asked Syria to intervene in Lebanon. nellie77: Syria WILL become a Democratic country you watch and see, Assad hasn't got a problem with that, i personally think he will get reelected.... He has way too much supporters XxDaddyDemonTakerxX: I hope u saw the millions who protested on wednesday to support AlAssad ,, and im proud I was one of them | Politics Chat Room 1 Person Chatting Similar Conversations |
