oops have we got it wrong about libya

dave3974
dave3974: Gaddaffi is proving to have lots more support than we thought, the opposition is fragmented and some elements are talking of becoming a hardline islamic state.
Gadaffi was a secular ruler , he did improve living standrds , perhaps he may be better than the alternative. And the war is costing us a fortune .

Sarcastic Dots: And?

Gadaffi may be a secular leader but that alone doesn't mean he is tolerable to the west, nor its ideals. Gaddafi is known to have supported religious terrorism, be it through Islam or Catholicism.

Islamic state or not, basing your views purely on secularism is a mistake.

Oh no! Surely that would never happen in the middle-east! These people love democracy! Hope the US and allies get their fingers well and truly burnt (yet again!). Will they never learn?!

dave3974: gaddffi is a dictator , let us hope the alternative will be better.

under saddam there was relative peace , women could wear western clothing and perhaps they were better off , unfortunately the arabs seem to need an extremist to rule

Kaiya_: You are right Dave. Say what you will about Kadafki, its no ones buisnes to overthrow him. This is very much a CIA production overthrowing all the little countries in the Middle East before the dollar implodes.
