how do you think about china and chinese leejonson: hao do you think about china ? if you come here , i think you can feel the warm of chinese people . i admit some bad person here cheat you , but not everybody like them . i really want to know your opinion about chinese , and why ? chronology: China was for centuries the worlds leading nation in terms of science and industry, but then China seemed to 'fall asleep' so to speak, for centuries she was content to watch world events unfold around her without any inclination to become involved. Then the expansion of Western Civilisation saw China invaded and manipulated by Western Powers and she eventually woke up from her long sleep. Today China is rich and successful. What I have noticed more than anything about Chinese people today is their 'confidence' in themselves and their country. (Post deleted by One Bar ) Sarcastic Dots: Lots of Chinese students here in Cardiff and, all-in-all, they are just like everybody else; Some Chinese people are nice and others are nasty. Of course, the people who study outside of China may be far different from those that work within, and chances are they are insanely downtrodden, but so are the working class of any country... Yeah, class, in a communist country. My biggest bone of contention with the Chinese (and China as a whole) is the undefined political system that they are living in; Neither communist, nor completely capitalist- it's becoming more fascist if anything, and I personally dislike the idea of fascism more than communism. (Edited by Sarcastic Dots) Serabi: Can Chinese men get an erection on their own??? Africas' rhinos are poached mercilessly to help with the erection problem. I saw a video where puppies and cats were skinned ALIVE. I couldn't sleep for weeks. dave3974: 1. It is estimated that one million Tibetans have died as a result of the Chinese occupation, through imprisonment, torture and executions. 2. In the period between March 2011 and December 2012, more than 90 Tibetans in Tibet set themselves on fire in protest of the Chinese government’s oppressive regime. These protests have continued into 2013. 3. In 2008, a United Nation report concluded that the use torture in Tibet was “widespread” and “routine”. 4. What China calls the Tibetan Autonomous Region (TAR) is only half of historical Tibet, which was about the size of western Europe. 5. Before the Chinese invasion in 1949, Tibet was a nation with its own government, currency, postal system, language and legal system. 6. The Tibetan plateau holds the world’s third largest store of fresh water in glacier form, and feeds Asia’s largest rivers. One billion people rely on this water source, which is under threat because of China’s policies of strip mining, deforestation, damming and diversion of rivers. 7. After the Chinese invasion, over 6,000 monasteries were destroyed in Tibet. 8. Tibetans are becoming a minority in TAR due to the vast influx of Han Chinese migrants, encouraged by incentives from the Chinese government. 9. Despite China's claims to have 'developed' Tibet, the illiteracy rate for TAR was a staggering 45% in 2005, compared to 10% in China as a whole in 2004. 10. One million nomadic herders have been forcibly moved from their traditional grazing lands, because of China's re-settlement policy. This is comparable to the treatment of Native Americans and Australian Aborigines by Western colonisers. dave3974: do you mean educating or brainwashing , you can not defend the indefensible rainy but you can clsoe your eyes and pretend all is well dave3974: clsoe enough , but your petty abuse does mean you have no rationale , there is blood on the hands of the repressive chinese government , by the way is it true Tiananmen Square was only a mild scuffle , idiots that believe the party line are a gift to a dictatorship edricleeboneham: I like China alot, but they need to become socialists, and ditch the unilatreal rule of the Communist party, a two party system works better, I mean you guys invented Daoism, you know that the forces need to balance each other out. Bumpa: I have lived and taught in China and thoroughly enjoyed it. I found the people delightful and the ancient culture fascinating. China has led the world in social issues, monetary systems, science, medicine, art, philosophy and exploration for thousands of years. In fact many discoveries attributed to westerners such as smallpox vaccination, global circumnavigation, telescopes, cartography etc were commonplace in China thousands of years earlier. If only they could be leaders in environmental matters today! China, your record in this sucks! The one party political system is downright primitive and shifting to a capitalistic system just as bad. I see huge problems in the near future as people have not had time to adjust to the new wealth and don't quite know what to do with it. snaggletooth007: uh...how about their human rights record, I think they suck in that category too. Did I mention I like egg drop soup? By the way the only people getting rich in China are the people connected to the government one way or the other, and of course foreign corporations. Did I mention I like egg drop soup? Bumpa: My stepdaughter there made a nice egg drop soup. Not only the ppl connected to the government getting rich. there is a new class of wealthy businessmen emerging in Taiwan and, of course there's now all those millionaires in HongKong snaggletooth007: I'm pretty sure there have been millionaires in Hong Kong for quite awhile. I'd like to try her egg drop soup. I'm also pretty sure those businessmen emerging from Taiwan are playing ball with the Chinese government. | Politics Chat Room 88 People Chatting Similar Conversations |
