HUMANIST MANIFESTO arijit_rupai: Humanism is an ideological, political, and religious belief that denies the existence of God. Atheists are humanist, as are new-agers, and many others. Those who adhere to the "theory" of evolution are humanists as well. Listed below are the five basic tenets (doctrines) of the Humanist Manifesto. 1. Religious Humanists regard the universe as self-existing and not created. 2. Humanism believes that man is a part of nature and that he has emerged as the result of a continuous process. (evolution). 3. Moral values derive their source from human experience. Ethics is autonomous and situational, needing no theological or ideological sanction. 4. Traditional religions inhibit humans from experiencing their full potentialities. 5. We can discover no divine purpose or providence for the human species. We are responsible for what we are or will become. No deity will save us - we must save ourselves. COURTSEY TO:http://contenderministries.org cuarl: You said it. Not much room for comments. Sometimes I envy the religious people though. Its so simple the answer to everything is just "God did it". I cant get my head around where we are. Even if the universe is superbig or if there are alternative universes that may collide and all. Those alternative universes must also be in some kind of space right? I dont buy infinite universe. That would logically mean there are also infinite copies of me writing this very same thing at this moment. Too scary | Philosophy Chat Room 10 People Chatting Similar Conversations |
