The First Cell Phone: Rules for Responsibility & Safety

morning_glorie
morning_glorie: 1) Cell phone stays down stairs or in a mutual family space when you go to bed. (It's tempting to stay awake and text all night or bother siblings who might be sleeping).
2) When talking on the phone, find a private space to be. (It's rude to talk on the phone when others are watching TV or doing homework)
3) No texting during family time. (When we are all watching a movie or out to dinner together or visiting with other family, it's not the time to text, it's inconsiderate and annoying.)
4) Having a cell phone is a privilege and will be suspended if grades are not sufficient or behavior is not sufficient (we have specific behavior rules that we have drawn our for our kids)
5) Texting in the car is dependent on how annoying you are with it. If you are laughing out loud and talking out loud about the text and other family members are not included in the conversation, you will be asked to stop texting on that car ride.
6) No texting or talking on the phone while being in the front seat, passenger or driver, unless specifically requested to do so by a parent (while in passenger).
7) No calling or texting numbers that add charges, doing so will result in you paying for them and having phone taken away for a few days determined by parents.
8) NO texting or talking on the phone during homework unless you get permission to text a friend regarding homework.
9) No browsing for wallpapers or ring tones without permission… due to possible charges and viruses.
10) No calls to non essential likes like "humor hotline" due to wasting family minutes.
11) No phone use during chores and until regularly assigned chores are completed and checked.
12) No cell phone use at the dinner table.
