chronology: 'The Regiment that Vanished'. One of the stories told often by old French Army Veterans in Paris and other French Towns is of 'The Regiment that vanished'. The story usually goes that the Regiment set out marching from one North Vietnamese location to another and simply 'vanished' on the way.

This story was well known in the 1960s and 70s, but has since more or less died out. Recently, the story of 'Ingots' being responsible for the French Regiment vanishing has become popular. Large, flesh eating Mole like animals that have not been proven to exist.

Some commenters on the story say the chances of a French 'Regiment' just vanishing and the French Public not being aware of it is highly unlikely. A Regiment during war time is around 3000 men. But the French Veterans could be referring to losses in a minor skirmish of a Company, around 100 men. And the Vietnamese have created quite a reputation for being world class tunnel makers. So the legend of mysterious tunnelling beings surrounding an outlying French Company of soldiers could have some basis in truth.

The U.S. Military had no similar incidents while in Vietnam. The U.S. Military never lost a single battle while serving in Vietnam. But some U.S. Veterans do claim to have seen strange animals while on duty there.

lori100: wikipedia----pilgrims-------Unlike in Europe, where women had few rights, Plymouth women enjoyed extensive property and legal rights. Widows in Plymouth could not be legally "written out" of her husband's will and were guaranteed a full third of the family's property upon his death. Women were parties to contracts in Plymouth; most notably prenuptial agreements. It was common for brides-to-be (and not, notably, their fathers) to enter into contractual agreements on the consolidation of property upon marriage. In some cases, especially in second marriages, women were given exclusive right to retain control of their property separately from their husbands.[92][93] Women were also known to occasionally sit on juries in Plymouth, a remarkable circumstance in seventeenth century legal practice. Historians James and Patricia Scott Deetz cite a 1678 inquest into the death of Anne Batson's child, where the jury was composed of five women and seven men.[94]-

chronology: Oklahoma Black Mass performed. With the Black Mass over in Oklahoma, the problems for the Building it was performed in may have only just begun.

Occultists point out that performing such rituals is like dumping toxic chemicals on the floor, the room remains contaminated for decades afterwards. They say when certain rituals are performed, it is like 'markers' being sent up that attract Evil Demonic Entities. It is similar to scent and sound markers in the animal world that attract predators. As there is no time 'on the other side' these entities will be calling by at the Oklahoma Centre for decades.

The usual method of neutralising such evil is to have an exorcism performed in the building, such exorcisms may or may not work. The best policy perhaps is not to meddle in such matters in the first place. Like the advertisement for the Movie 'The Ninth Gate' said; 'leave the unknown alone'.

chronology: 'The Rocky Mountain Yeti'. He is said to look exactly like the Yeti in the Himalayas, but this 'Big Guy' hangs out in the heartland of America, scooting about in the high altitude of the Rockies.

So is there a Yeti in America? American wildlife experts doubt the possibility. 'It is just so unlikely some animal that big could have gone undetected for so long' commented one observer. So what are people seeing when they see 'Yeti's', maybe it is the crisp thin air of the Rockies, maybe sunlight reflecting back from snow, maybe folks lost in reverie amongst the breath taking sweeping vistas of forests and snow capped mountains are just letting their imagination wander. One experienced Tracker insists he really saw a Yeti; 'I know what I saw, it rose out of the water and just looked at me, it had been tracking some Elk on the shore'.

Next time you watch Brokeback Mountain try checking the bushes in the background of the scenes for Yeti's.

chronology: 1966 and Australia was about to change as a country. It all began on a sunny beach on Australia Day when three children were seen walking away with a man.

It was the beginning of 'The Beaumont Mystery'. Two little girls and a boy vanished after a visit to the beach. Before their disappearance, Australians had considered their country a safe place, and the abduction of the children was to change that for ever. But even more dark and sinister stories began to emerge years later. There was talk of 'well placed professional people belonging to a Cult who abducted people and carried out gruesome experiments on them'. The police never refuted the story, in fact they believed the Cult involved 4 core members and 8 menial members helping them. The Beaumont children they feared, had fallen victim to the Cult.

To this day the Case remains unsolved, and for many older Australians, the hurt felt at the loss of the little Beaumont children is still in their thoughts.

chronology: It is unlikely folks in Hiroshima or Dresden had ever heard of an Italian Pilot called Giulio Gavotti who became a Media sensation in Italy for a daring and courageous act of bravado over an Oasis in the deserts of Libya, but the young Italian had just begun a chain of events that would see their cities reduced to smoldering rubble.

Flying alone over enemy troops in November 1911, the daring young pilot leaned out of his plane and dropped a bomb on the enemy below. This was the first ever recorded 'Air Raid' in war time.

Soon nations were scrambling to develop aircraft that could be used for dropping bombs on enemy positions, less than 30 years after the little Italian plane flew alone across the desert, European skies would be filled with tens of thousands of aircraft dropping thousands of tons of bombs and incendiaries.

Ironically, the Italian plane flew by the plucky pilot was called a 'Dove' plane, Dove's are a symbol of peace.

chronology: Did Silent Movie Stars really speak the lines shown in their Movies on the Screen.

Generally speaking yes they did. Hollywood Actors in Silent Movies for the most part stuck to their lines simply because it was helpful to keep them 'in character'. But occasionally some Movie Stars were discovered improvising. Some stars were also discovered arguing during scenes that apparently showed them laughing and joking.

An Actress was also seen to say 'if you drop me you son of b'tch I'll kill you', when a actor picked her up and carried her off romantically. You see, this happened before Hollywood realised Lip Reading deaf people visited Movie Theatres.

As soon as Hollywood realised their exposure to Lip Readers, Movie Stars became more cautious in their conversations on screen.

chronology: 'Triumph over death'. A Russian Billionaire is funding a Project which he believes will be the ultimate human achievement, the triumph over death. He believes that by 2045 mankind will be able to transfer the human personality and entire mind of a person from their body into a clone thus giving them a fresh new life and new healthy body to enjoy another lifetime before being transferred again to another body, this can be done again and again thus offering immortality.

The Russian Project head believes people can also 'live' in computer generated Avatars allowing limitless possibilities for self expression and discovery.

To some, this is just a variation on the speculations for Teleportation Machines. The problem is, whatever 'you' are, dies the moment 'you' are separated from your body. It may be possible to transplant an entire personality of someone into a Clone, but original 'personality' would have died along with the original body. The Clone could have all the abilities and memories of the original person, but it would still be a different person.

While you would have to be pretty unimaginative to believe that there are not human clones right now being kept secret from the public, you would have to be pretty naïve to believe a method of transferring your mind into a new clone is available anytime soon, or ever.

chronology: Jacques Vallee becomes a 'Heretic'.

Jacques Vallee has an impressive Social and Academic profile, wealthy and well educated, he would normally be fauned upon in the UFO community, but he became a 'heretic' to mainstream UFO circles when he declared he rejected the 'Off world' origin for UFOs. He also discussed the incidents of Lourdes and Fatima as if they were accurately reported, something UFO buffs found even more bewildering.

After spending years studying UFO sightings and reports Vallee concluded that UFO activity was not consistent with any 'Off World' investigation or exploration of the Earth, he also concluded that the bodies of Alien Greys and other Aliens were not consistent with the bodies needed by Space Travellers and were unlikely to have developed on any Alien planets in that form.

Instead, he suggested the Aliens were interdimensional beings also linked to religious apparitions. This conclusion was greeted with consternation by the UFO community who thought it absolutely incredible.

Vallee had in fact preempted American Bible conspiracy theorists who would come to see UFOs as 'Devils in disguise'.

John Keel the American investigator of UFOs would also come to share Vallee's viewpoint. Dr Karla Turner would later claim the U.S. Military were cooperating with Aliens, kidnapping and drugging Abductees of Aliens. Dr Karla could never back up her claims with any proof at all.

The British Antarctic Survey mapped the Antarctic using Radar, Radar travels through ice smoothly and then bounces back from the ground below. The BAS put together a map of the Continent that revealed it is mostly vast plains with long ridges of Mountains similar to the Rocky Mountain Range of America.

Last year the American Space Agency NASA confirmed the British findings by mapping the icy Continent using an advanced Radar Satellite, which produced a more detailed map.

But it will be a long time before any humans walk on those Plains or climb those Mountains, the ice sheets are 12000 feet deep in most of Antarctica.

chronology: 11 November this year will be the 6th anniversary of Joerg Haider's untimely death in an automobile crash in Austria. The Right Wing firebrand, nicknamed 'Europe's David Duke' was intensely loved and admired by his followers, but establishment business and political circles found him irritating and uncooperative. Even today, controversy surrounds his name, his daughter Ulrika announced she would decline an offer to run for Office because of 'smear' attacks on her family.

But was Joerg Haider really the victim of a late night traffic accident most likely the result of falling asleep at the wheel of his car. or was he the victim of a James Bond like electronic hijacking of his automobile. Strange to say, even some respected public figures in England think his car was electronically tampered with, and American Conspiracy Theorists are certain it was. They claim that as Joerg drove along the road in the early hours of the morning his car controls were remotely controlled by conspirators who drove him into a concrete pillar. VW Engineers insist this claim is nonsense, and the course of the accident seems consistent with a driver falling asleep, then mishandling the car when jolted awake.

In death, as in life, Mr Haider prompts controversy, both real and imagined.

chronology: Some times being religious can lead people to do odd things, very odd.

'The Skopsky' Sect in Russia in the mid 1700s got the idea that men and women were originally made with no genetals, genatals only attached themselves to Adam and Eve after they were thrown out of the Garden of Eden they believed. So, their answer to these unlucky appendages was to hack them off.

The Russian Authorities tried to stop the Sect, but by the mid 1800s Russia had 100.000 men walking around with no testicles. Given the short lifespan, and no chance of children it seemed pointless to lock up the Sect members but many were sent to Siberia.

Today there are around 100 members of the Sect in Russia.

chronology: Beachy Head Cliffs and The Golden Gate Bridge both have one thing in common they would rather not have, both are popular 'Final Destinations' for people intent on suicide.

Last year was the worst on record for the Golden Gate, 46 people died by jumping off the Bridge, Beachy Head, you may know it better as 'The White Cliffs of Dover', averaged 26 deaths last year.

Ominously, some California Civil Servants think the real death toll is higher, as do Beachy Head Rescue Staff. At night people often fall unnoticed and strong currents carry bodies silently and quickly away. But collecting the bodies noticed can be a grim task. One Beachy Head Rescue Recovery worker spoke of his recollections of collecting 250 dead bodies over the years he spent at the Coast Guard Rescue Post. 'I have hardly ever spoken to anyone about it', he reflects 'they do not like us talking about all the deaths because of fear of copycat suicides'.

California Authorities also considered the possibility of people being influenced by news of jumpers from the Bridge, and they asked for newspapers and radio not to report suicides. This blackout lasted ten years, and in that time the death toll doubled.

The Golden Gate Administrators are considering making the Bridge 'Jumper Proof', this can be done, but it is very expensive and the fencing often ugly and unsightly.

Until the unsightly fencing is in place, Emergency Response Staff in San Francisco and Beachy Head will be placing their Cell Phones on their bedside tables, not knowing if a call will inform them of another body to recover .........................

chronology: One of the many social movements to sweep America in the 19th century was Spiritualism. During Seances, Mediums would astonish a group of people in a darkened room apparently floating around the room. How did they manage such a feat.

A modern American Stage Magician studied the reports of Seances and it took only a short time to work out the Levitation, or more likely, stunt.

First, the Seances were held in the dark, the Medium would be dressed in black, as would most of the sitters. But Mediums would wear white shoes, a fact they would casually draw the attention of the sitters to before the room was steeped in darkness. During the Séance when the room was in darkness, the Medium would slip off his shoes, which would be barely visible in the darkness, then hold them above the Séance table and use crude ventriloquism to make it appear his voice was coming from above the table. All the people in the room could make out was the shadowy shape of the shoes 'floating' above the table which they thought he was still wearing, and his voice apparently coming from above added to the illusion.

chronology: In 1838 an unknown man in Paris decided to have his shoes shined. That decision placed him in the world history books as the first human being ever to be photographed. There were other people on the street he was photographed in at the time, but they were walking and never appeared in the picture, but because the man was standing still at the shoe shine, his image was captured in the picture.

Curiously, the first ever photograph from space was not taken in the 1960s as one might expect. It was actually taken in 1946 from an American V2 Rocket fired from White Sands during a secret missile test.

chronology: With the endless number of images on the web today, from YouTube to Google, it prompts the question; 'what was the first picture uploaded onto the Web'.

First, the World Wide Web is not the Internet, just the system we all use to access Web Sites. Tim Bernes Lee invented the Web in 1991. The first Web Site, (the only Web Site at the time) was at his Office in Cern France. But the early Web was entirely Text based, and Bernes Lee was experimenting with a system that could upload images. In 1993 he asked a man at the next work desk to himself if he could borrow a photograph of a French comedy group of four women to try and upload it to his new version of the World Wide Web.

History was made, and the world changed for ever when the cheesy photograph of the four ladies was successfully uploaded. Billions, if not Trillions of images and videos were to follow the four ladies into cyberspace.

chronology: How an Earthquake finally gave Federal Agents a glimpse of Howard Hughes. Howard Hughes had been living in Nicaragua in 1972 when a devastating earthquake rocked the country in December, Howard decided to leave and spend some time in London. His private jet took to the sky leaving the burning cities of Nicaragua in it's slipstream and headed out to sea and to Europe.

En route, the pilot of Howards plane called in to the U.S. FAA and announced his position and who was on board. The FAA immediately instructed the pilot to land in Florida and submit to a U.S. Customs inspection. This opportunity was just what U.S. I.R.S. Agents had waited so long for. They had shadowed Howard for years but were unable to discover just where he actually was, now could serve him with the subpoena they had for him regarding his Tax Returns. The FAA must have tipped off the I.R.S. Officers.

As Howards plane landed in Florida and taxied along the runway Federal Agents pointed to a Hangar where the plane was to stop. Howards security staff came down the stairs of the plane but refused to allow Customs or I.R.S. Agents to enter the plane, it was around midnight and the plane was in darkness. Howards plane was encircled by Federal Agents, it looked like his long evasion of Federal Agencies had finally been halted.

Federal Agents heard shouts coming from the plane in the darkness as a man called out 'no no no, I will not submit to this, call the President, call Washington, I will not be treated like this'. A lengthy stand off ensued as Howards staff called the White House and New York Attorneys. A federal Agent later recalled, 'we were told to back off and let him go'. But one I.R.S. Agent was adamant something be gained after all their work, he asked Washington 'can we at least confirm that the man on the plane 'is' Howard Hughes'. Washington gave permission for Agents to confirm Howard's identity.

The dramatic moment came when a U.S. Customs Agent entered the plane, which was still in darkness, it was 3am in the morning, holding his flashlight. The U.S. Customs Official heard wheezing sounds and heavy breathing from the rear of the plane and walked towards the sounds. The smart clean cut Customs Official's light fell on a old man wrapped in a filthy blancket, he had a scarf wrapped around his face, his hair was long and a filthy beard drooped over the blanket. 'Are you Howard Rombard Hughes' asked the clean cut Customs Officer. The filthy old man huddled in his blanket and pulled up his old scarf a little more to hide his face and replied 'yup, I suppose you can say that'. .U.S. Customs Officials would note in their report that Howard looked starved and unkempt, he was all skin and bones. He was also filthy and unwashed.

lori100: Newsweek "Dark Side of the Moon"---------Wrestling with the huge steering wheel, a CIA agent carefully backed the large flatbed truck through an entrance in the 10-foot wooden fence surrounding a salvage yard. As the truck rumbled to a stop, he and other covert intelligence operatives moved quickly under cover of night, pushing the gate closed, barely clearing the front bumper. They then all rushed to the back of the truck, hopped inside and delicately pried open the giant wooden crate it carried, being careful to leave no marks.

And with that, the first stage of their until now secret mission was complete: American intelligence had stolen—or, more accurately, borrowed—one of the Soviet Union’s most important technologies, a Lunik space vehicle, which was a key component in its race with the United States to be the first to reach the moon.

The “kidnapping” of that missile, done without the Soviets ever knowing about it, is one of many wild and sometimes weird secret operations and schemes exposed for the first time in a series of recently declassified government documents concerning the so-called Space Race, which was feared to be important for military reasons but known to be propaganda that could swell national pride.
