WIRECLUB PETITION- Make the Lounge rated PG (Page 3) (Post deleted by staff ) (Post deleted by staff )  AlishaLucky: At my count there are 35 "signs"- up until Perc  . I was hoping to reach 50 before submitting to Wireclub Rod. I will tell you all a story. Once upon a time, I contacted Rod about a problem I had, and he solved it, because he is a polite and reasonable guy. He even put a smiley face after my silly request. I believe the changes to Wireclub were made, because both Rod and Braden care about the chatters, and want to make this place the best possible chat forum thingy. I don't think this effort is frugal, that if Rod sees Wire chatters want a PG room, free of minors, but still under some restrictions to cleanliness and smut-free chat, I think that if enough of us band together, it will be changed. It's not like we are requesting the room to be changed to R OR requesting something that is out of Wireclub's terms of service. Most of us who have signed, frequent only the Lounge when chatting, so we deserve a place where we feel comfortable. I would really appreciate the regulars spreading the word about the petition. I know there are many who haven't signed. However, if you do NOT want to sign, and want to allow minors into the room, please do not feel forced into signing. It's not like the room is having a minor invasion. Maybe once a week I might see someone under 18 speak up and they generally don't talk for that long. I understand the thoughts about not wanting to hang out with minors but that is why the block button is in place so that you don't have to. Keep in mind that we are on a social networking site and the idea of it is to have inclusion. You don't have to speak to anyone you don't want to. That's the beauty of it. Robot Seb: Michael has a great point. Allowing a person to communicate with you is a privilege you can easily take away by clicking the block button. Drain_Bammage: Doesnt pg mean parental guidance (recommended) so its ok if minors go in there as long as their parents are watching lol LouieInTexas: Sure-- to BLOCK a certain Troll-- But multiples, who also harass others..... That is like giving them a pass to harass..... It is like at work, you have that ONE worker-- you simply can't IGNORE him/her.... If they are FIRED, then NO MORE issue... ( but that's just me) AlishaLucky: Good points Michael. Block is a great feature. I thought, when Wire changed over and minors were allowed to use Wireclub, that they would have their own rooms, and the rooms that were adult, were only adult. However, with the new rating system and G rooms being able to have minors, all the places where I like to play are now open to minors. Who, in my experience, either come on and spout their mouths about how "ugly" everyone is and how "old" everyone is- and in this case they get blocked, but the other case is, they come in and speak nicely and chat with men or women twice their age, before anyone realises that their profiles say "under 19". You're right, they don't usually stay for long. So why have them there in the first place? In the Lounge, while it is a G room, we speak and joke more along the PG lines and I don't think minors should be able to play along with those jokes. Also, being a teacher, I feel like I have to put on my teacher hat, when there is a minor in the room, and be mindful of what I'm typing. This might just be me, but I do change the way I speak to people who are young, attempting to role model the type of behaviour that you would hope they would show. But, in chat, it's my time to "let my hair down" so to speak. I don't think having the rating changed to PG would really do anything except exclude the minors. The swear words are still censored, and the room is still clean and moderated. If this isn't correct, then I withdraw the petition. Essentially, I believe the Lounge would be lovelier if minors were not able to be present, but in all other respects, remains the same.
