Comrade_: Unlike you, I wouldn't move to another country and put the one I was born in down. You don't live here so I'd not expect you to know that the crime is only in certain areas between gang members and not in the entire country.

But it's alright Rabi, growing up in Canada and moving to Singapore but not acknowledging the place you grew up in must be a new low. Pushing Singapore as a Utopia (forgetting the HDI & the problems there) and dismissing Canada as a 'third world' country. Where is the honour...

Comrade_: But you put your country down, there's more to it than having harsh laws Rabi, as much as I'd want to protect my son and know he's safe there will be harsh realities in life that he'll have to learn.
Btw it's not simply getting up and moving to another country. I have personal matters that I take care of here.

Comrade_: Yet you don't know where I live, I live in a safe suburban community and there are alot of those in Trinidad, you don't know the country and I would excuse what you say and think since you're looking from the outside without knowing that there are only gangs in the poorer areas (as all other country) it doesn't cross into the rural areas or the suburban areas.
My parents had no reason to move, but they did and I like the rich culture here, I want my son to have that too.

Comrade_: Statistics don't lie and neither videos, but neither do they show the whole of the country. Rabbit, anyone who visits will know.
Each country has areas where it is unsafe to go & visit. You can't stay hidden in Singapore all your life because you're fearful of criminals in other countries. You move accordingly, everywhere there will be crime, you don't go in the crime areas and you make yourself knowledgeable of that.

Comrade_: Stay in Singapore and never leave? Here there is history, culture, beaches, food, music, people come here as tourist why would I leave? To be protected from things that I can avoid as not going into gang areas?
I mightn't be a local by lineage but atleast I can contribute as my parents did.

Comrade_: You should take up your own advice.
