Esperanto

Blondini
Blondini: I'm considering to learn Esperanto as my next (9th) language, because I think, that the idea behind this artificial language is great and it's worth to support it. I know that the fabulous idea of a universal world language will never be realized (it was Latin in former times, then French, now English and it will be Mandarin in the future), but I still like this idea of a language, that gives nobody an advantage, that is owned by nobody and all the people at the same time, that it easy to learn and that unifies the world. My friends say, why don't you brush up your french (which is very poor) instead of learning a useless language, but I want to support this movement, be part of it, and don't think that it's really useless. What's your point of view?

Aura: If I'd want to learn a 'made up' language I think I'd go for Klingon. Probably a larger user base too, or at least, more chance to find groups of people who speak it gathered at one time. But languages and me don't get along very well.
