Does anyone think that chatters who spend too much time here lose a grip in real life and turns into pseudo intellects? (Page 3)

Is_she_weird: Well I dunno If we'd have to start a new topic about this, but I'm still really in doubt whether chatting is 'worse' than real life chatting. It's certainly different, but not being able to have physical contact can be an advantage too right? Like an intellectual conversation is not biased by how one looks, sounds and behaves...

Nylt: True but how many guys you see who talk to a 50-60 yo females unless they start talking about boobs and similar stuff? Or say, how many girls you see who would talk to a guy who doesnt really know how to "act" cool on chat or make jokes which would impress those girls?

If you fall into the "boring" category. You are there forever.

Is_she_weird: Hmm perhaps I was trying to say whether it is 'healthy' to chat online. Worse is too vague.

Nylt: I dont think its healthy unless you meet some nice chatters which is a blue moon case and sometimes you dont meet those at all.

Plus from what I have experianced, if this chat world gets real to you then the world outside would seem unreal to some extent. You may have a job etc but you'd feel better here and it can slowly become strong part of your life.

Overall, I think its a 50-50 chance for chat to be healthy. What do you think?

Idonthaveausername: Well, I guess I will talk about myself a bit, if you all care. ^_^

I am an introvert (INTJ) believe it or not. I current dropped out of college because of financial reasons but I reapplied and will start college again next fall. I am a biology major. I love biology. Even if I am not highly interested in certain parts, I have appreciation for it. When I did my first semester at college, I took a philosophy (ethics) class. I loved it a lot. We would pull apart arguments by looking at how it was presented and what was explained. It really helped me think critically and made me a better writer and reader, which I must say, has done more good than actual writing This is what has started my drive towards learning about philosophy as well.

I want to go to medical school and be a surgeon. Why? I love working with my hands!!! I love the fact that I am healing someone with my hands. I also see it as an art. I love the human body too. It is an amazing instrument with many mysteries!!! We only have 1 body, so we have to take care of it right?

I started learning about medicine and the human boss in high school. What happened was, I was in middle school and I wanted to go to another other school besides my home school (it had a bad reputation). I chose this technically high school with three academies: Medicine, information technology, and engineering. I just chose medicine. I was pretty damn good at it to and it was interesting so I stayed with it. This is what lead me to my path. ^_^

Is_she_weird: I have that exact same feeling about online chat. I started chatting with my classmates since I was 13 and found out I was better at expressing my thoughts and emotions though chat than in real life. I still have that experience, though I'm trying to switch it the other way around as I'm afraid it's unhealthy.

Idonthaveausername: I am interested in learning how to cook better. I also want to start gardening and painting in the future. I draw, I have some drawings in my profile. I also want to make pottery. I like building stuff too. I love using my hands. ^_^

Idonthaveausername: Will my path change? I do not know!!! At least if for some reason jobs in medicine is not an option, I like doing other things. I love math and drawing, so perhaps I could be an architect!!! Or a construction worker. Oh boy. ^_^

Nylt: Sounds good, Rose.

ISW, I am same but I dont like giving a peek about how I am to strangers and yet sometimes I feel comfort talking to them. I started chatting after I quit architecture doing 2 years.

But chat addiction is as bad as any other addiction. Irl, you could atleast have an awareness that you are getting addicted but here you would just go "Oh, its just chat" but nah, you are getting addicted.

Is_she_weird: I started online chat after I had to quit psychology (if y'all are throwing in your bio I can't stay behind ofc.). That's why I have this awesome avatar of Carl Gustav Jung, though I forgot most about him. I do know he's awesome though

I'm not worrying about chat addiction. I'm here for casual chat, and know somewhat how to handle online chat. I know the basic instructions, if you know what I mean I keep my emotional distance, so I won't get disappointed/hurt.

Idonthaveausername: Yeah, same way here. I put emotions to the side and keep it out. There is no use in getting upset at a person you will never see on the net. It is a short term issue if it does happen, so I brush it off and keep moving. ^_^

PerkyGirlz: I'd personally think it would get boring being here all day. There's not that much to do. The chat rooms that aren't dead are fulla nonsense conversations and people in cliques that all but ignore your very existence. There's just not much substance here to keep me on here for that long. I come here for the off chance I get a good conversation going, if not, I leave.

I feel sad for the people that are here no matter what time I log in, as though their lives are so empty of life that they have nothing better to do than sit in a dying chat website every waking moment. The lack of newbees would also make it boring, since there's no new blood coming in to add to the conversations.

Mosta the "newbees" seem to just be former members making new identical profiles and aren't new at all, even tho Wire thinks they are.

Nylt: You are right. But I have noticed a significant amount of teens coming here but as you said, they could just be old users under new profile.

One other thing I have noticed is them either being exceedingly foolish and acting real smartass. Some people may have such personality but mostly its only pretenders.

To explain my point, I should tell this. I was in a room once and they were making jokes which were completely out of the line just to appear cool amongst females. This is the way for males to get attention.

As for females, the revealing pictures helps. And they talk about their anatomy so openly. I mean, if you're having a real conversation which makes you to talk about it, its fine but if not then, why?

And the jokes they make, I wonder if any..any person having a life outside here would admire them because they are sick. Most people making/acting like this are the ones giving the propoganda "Have a life!'

Quite ironic.
