Does anyone think that chatters who spend too much time here lose a grip in real life and turns into pseudo intellects? (Page 2) Is_she_weird: Well I'm new to random online chatting, but I tend to just ignore the pseudo-intellects. Or at least, the people I think they are. And yes, there are a lot. (Edited by Is_she_weird)  Nylt: Rose, I dont know their situation and I dont have to know how and what they are dealing in their life. But if they are coming here and becoming this way on a chat site, then you think they are intelligent? I mean, really? A mature person wouldnt come here and say shit just because his life is bad. Thats one reason, they dont qualify as intellects but pseudo intellects. Is_she_weird: Lot's of ego's like to humiliate others by assuming he's smarter than you and that it's bad/unfortunate etc. to be stupid. Nylt: ISW, you might ignore them but it may sound weird but its contagious. If a person is saying things on a particular topic and the other person is just chilling...then the other person would be considered as less intelligent by the chatters because he/she isnt involving into stupid moronic discussions and at some point, he/she would HAVE to jump into the conservation. Nylt: I barely see people agreeing on something. Its like, they read first paragraph of a book, come here, say they have read the book and start spewing crap and those who havent read the book thinks "Oh,he has read the book. Whatever he is saying MUST mean something". Really? Are we that stupid to not know if a sentence is making sense or not that we rely on difficult words to see if the other person is actually an intellect or not? Idonthaveausername: Nylt, I see what you are saying. Some do in fact get carried away with being a pseudo intellect online as I have mentioned in my first post. So to answer your question, yes, some do. ^_^ Is_she_weird: Well i'm not fast at thinking/want to think things through and with me a lot of other people. If people think i'm stupid because i'm not saying anything I think they are the ones stupid because of their ignorance (not knowing i tend to think things through/am not a fast thinker) Nylt: Its same with me. But atleast, I am original. And if you are mature enough, you'd know just by chatting a few times that the person you're talking to has that originality or not. Is_she_weird: it's just another coping mechanism trying to keep up my self esteem/confidence. Because it's part of my identity being smart. Is_she_weird: It would be a good training/lesson for the pseudo-intellectuals to say 'i don't know' whenever they honestly don't know. Tend's to be hard for some ego's. Idonthaveausername: Ahhh, Nylt. Yeah, those are the try hard intellects I addressed in my first post. That is very immature that one would have to do such a think. As a matter of a fact, they must not have a clue on what it means to be an intellectual. It is not about using big fancy words. As a matter of a fact, if an intellectual has average people as their audience, the excessive use of advanced vocabulary is pointless and can be rude at times. It is about communicating your thoughts and ideas using a general sense of rationality in a coherent manner (this is very broad definition so bare with it). If this is the case, they are not "true" intellectuals in a sense (of course this is dependent on the perspective). Some would think that no one has any place to decide if these people (pseudo intellectuals) are intellectuals or not. ^_^ Idonthaveausername: I think slow too. I have met a considerable amount of people who had been really worse with mental stability. What would you think if you see a bunch of people talking about how to change the world and what they actually do is smoke weed all day long? I think they categorise well in pseudo intellect category. Is_she_weird: I'd like to nominate the people who just don't have a clue what they are talking about. Nylt: I have been there when I talked about things I had doubt on. But never that I didnt know what I am talking about. You know, its a complete disappearance of things you have said here after you log out. Its just gone unless you are addicted. Idonthaveausername: I agree Nylt, they could just be frustrated individuals. If you question some of these people they will go ape shit or make up something to make what they are saying make sense. I just tell myself "it is the internet.....unfortunately". ^_^ Is_she_weird: @nylt: i think it's a good thing to research the things you have doubt on. For clarity: I wasn't talking about doubt, but about ignorance. Though I think we are all ignorant towards what reality is, so it's also a good thing to talk about our ignorance Idonthaveausername: I will say, I do wonder about people on wire. Not necessarily pertaining to their intellectualism, but also what their lives are like, what they do for a living, what their home is like (if they have one). There are different kinds of people on here whether they will allow us to see it or not... My profile is real. I goof off from time to time.
