JeanYves72: Your youth shows through here. Are you really that insecure that you need to bolster yourself up with this kind of response. Noone is that naturally gifted where they don't need guidance on their path. Even people who train for decades still train with their teachers.

JeanYves72: Why do you resist so much? Only a fool ridicules those who have not just more experience but more knowledge which is evident by what is written. Read about the truly great masters in all the styles. O'Sensei Morihei Ueshiba (Aikido), Gogen 'The Cat' Yamaguchi (Goju Ryu Karate), Koichi Tohei (Ki Society), Gozo Shioda (Yoshinkan Aikido), Masaaki Hatsumi (Bujinkan), Gichin Funakoshi (Shotokan Karate) etc. Learn from the true masters. The philosophy of their styles, how they lived. Read books by those who have used their skills to help people incorporate the skills involving the mindset and philosophy into their lives like George Leonard and Thomas Crum, both Aikidoka.

JeanYves72: Now you are really sounding like the idiot I know. A rank is not necessarily a good indication of
prowess as 1 school may have an instructor who will production line gradings where you may get another who will take twice as long as usual. And even between different styles you will find a differing degree of skill level amongst a particular grade. Why are you so focused on Bruce Lee? Are you a student of Jeet Kune Do? And why is it that you say I don't listen and yet you don't comment on what is written in reply to you? One thing you don't see is that ranking does not mean wisdom unless you have the life experience behind it. You do realise that even Bruce Lee had a philosophy with Jeet Kune Do don't you?

Interesting. You sound exactly like spankdmonkey. Identical. Spelling, punctuation, the style. Most interesting is where you may have seen such a picture. As I have certainly never put one up in my gallery like that.

JeanYves72: Not jeans.Gi pants. And I am holding a bokken in a posture. Look more carefully. Your aggression shows that you have a long way to go and are just trying to cover up your own self-esteem issues. You are so focused on defending yourself against perceived attacks that you are blind and deaf to facts. Only interested in proving yourself which shows the immaturity of the thinking and lack of understanding. Unless you are ready to learn and listen then you will be nothing more than a person who learns how to fight rather than a martial artist.

JeanYves72: A person who feels the need to prove who is superior is missing the whole essence of martial arts. A person who says that everything about them is wonderful is full of an ego that is due to a low self-esteem. As for my picture I had just finished kiriage from ryusui no kamae. I am holding the Tsuka (hilt) near the Tsuba (guard) with my right hand and have my left resting on the Kashira (buttcap). In ninjutsu we step into the cut.

As for the rank battle I have trained with Shidoshi who have a massive ego and with Nidan who have a depth of inner-strength that is inspiring. I am not here to battle for I have nothing to prove. I am actually trying to impart some of the meagre knowledge I have on the arts. And some experience I have. A person who has to prove themselves is someone who is not secure with what he claims he believes in.

JeanYves72: A person who is insecure and knows that they cannot back up their beliefs using reason will attempt to portray themselves as physically more tough. The truly tough are those who have no need to 'prove' themselves as they are aware of their abilities and are secure enough within themselves to walk away from such a immature way to act. There is a difference between a high self-esteem, a healthy self- esteem and simple arrogance. You have truly passed into the 3rd one. You say such things knowing that we will never meet. What is the purpose of it? All you come across as is a blustering, posturing child. How about you actually try to repudiate what we are saying with reasoning? Use a mature adult approach rather than silly, futile challenges that you know cannot and will not be taken up? Or are you that insecure within yourself? That arrogant? That much in a fantasy world where you are able to 'defeat all nefarious naysayer to defend you chosen art' like out of a bad Gung Fu movie from the 70's?

JeanYves72: You live in America. I live in Australia. How can it be taken up? And why would I want to? It defeats the purpose of what I am trying to say? Also how is it trolling? The threats you make, the posturing show a great immaturity of an understanding of the arts. Also to do such silly posturing and make such silly challenges to someone whose background and training you don't know show the vast insecurity you must feel. Why not try to use reason rather than futile threats of violence and all of your macho posturing? What you do not see is that I am acting using martial techniques on you now. Actually applying my training in my interaction here with you. I am actually in control, calm, rational where you are verbally flailing about.

Ask yourself...Who would come off as the martial artist to outsiders when they read our discussions here?

JeanYves72: I and Spiritual Master have not only addressed what you have said but have done it without silly and futile challenges and without any posturing. The arts are more than strikes and throws. The masters all also delve into and make a personal study of the other 2 aspects as well. Of the mind and spirit. The attitude you show is not only immature but also dangerous for yourself and others. It can get you killed or in jail. I say I'm in control because I am able to respond ina way that is understandable without needing to 'show' how 'tough' I am. You are building a foundation that is like a sandcastle right next to the ocean.

The martial arts is like the 3 Little Pigs houses. If you focus just on techniques it is a flimsy, very flimsy structure and it will blow over easily with no effort at the first sign of resistance. If you add knowledge that is on a more mental basis, as in the history behind techniques, weapons, the masters then you have a martial art that is a little stronger. Yet will crumble with a bit of effort. To add in the philosophy of non-violence, respect, compassion, empathy, gentleness and to attempt to live these qualities it will withstand anything that life will throw at you.

You are so focused on the first that all you will be doing is rebuilding the straw house without the frame work or the mind and the bricks and mortar of the spirit.

JeanYves72: Your attitude shows that it is not about self-defence but about ego. You are constantly commenting about what you are so good in. The one who has the most to shout out about is usually the one with the least to shout about. You heard of the old saying about the empty vessel making the most noise? Everyone needs an instructor as there are nuances to techniques that are often missed. A particular angle, a particular way of moving or placement of feet, hidden strikes, a feeling of the technique. You have shown no self-control here. As such there is no doubt that you will also show this in your life as well. Even weaponry is used as an aid to the essence of the arts. Any fool can learn how to use a weapon. A martial artist learns the history, the reasons behind the technique, the nuances, and learns to understand the tool.

Who says that they are your best weapons? You? Friends? Or someone who has been training in the martial arts for decades? Have studied and trained with them? You want to use punctuation as you are typing in one sentence. Shows a great lack of control to do so. All that I can see and no doubt others is what looks like a child trying to big note himself with futile threats and comments with nothing to support them. You do not do a martial art. You are someone who wants to be 'tough' and you don't realise what a shaky foundation you are on.

So where is your proof about Spiritual Master? All I have seen is someone who has a deeper understanding and his Aikido and swordsmanship training comes through in his comments.
