What to eat in Germany? Any suggestions? :) FourWishesGenie: Ohh theres plenty good food.. I suggest you go to a bavarian/traditional german beer garden. "meat loaf" with vegetables and mashed potatoes. "schnitzel" with fried potatoes or cold potatoe salad. "Baked potatoes" with sour cream. "Bratwurst" or "roast pork" =) with potatoes and "sauerkraut". "stuffed cabbage" (yum!) "hotpots" such as "pea soup" or "lentil soup" with spicy or wiener sausages. "knuckle of pork" - usually served with sauerkraut and potatoe dumplings. "meatballs". "smoked pork chop (kassler)" with sauerkraut and salty potatoes. "spaetzle" - a specialty from Southern Germany, made by boiling small lumps of dough made from flour and eggs , often served with cheese. and last but not least turkish-german "doner kebab", which is as far as i know served and tastes differently from any othe kebab in the world and the germans fav lunch imbiss snack apart from chicken and bratwurst with french fries. If you go to berli u gotta have a "Currywurst"!! Usually served with pepper and curry and a spicy ketchup sauce. Drinks: Different "Beers" (duh!) and "Fassbrause" as a non-alcoholic drink which is some kind of limonade. "Apple spritzer" and "Spezi" which is a fanta-coke mixed drink are popular aswell. For dessert: You gotta have "apple strudel" (apfelstrudel) Hope i could help you a little, Have a nice trip =) FourWishesGenie: germans at home usually cook lots of potatoe dishes with meat, dark sauce and veggies but also eat foreing dishes such as italian pasta, pizza or lasagne.. even asian food has become popular. like everywhere else i guess =) anniegirl: OMG, you are really an expert on German food Thanks again! and can't wait to try those food | places Chat Room Similar Conversations |
