struanrobertson02: Mike Patton can go up to 6 Octaves and from notes Eb1 to E7. Bigger range than King Diamond and Axl Rose. Even more, Patton is also extremely versatile, he can sing in multiple genres and Experimental music, has loads and loads of Techniques and can control all Octaves very well. Oh and surprisingly he hasn't blown his voice away yet, but he has Passed his prime. Still, not much of a difference. Without a doubt, he has to be the most greatest vocalist of all time. Listen to "God Hates A Coward", "Pink Cigarette" and "Ashes To Ashes". If these for some fucked up strange reason don't convince you that he's the best, listen to the infamous "Litany IV" which is very strange and screechy, but unimaginable. How can anybody reach such lengths?

struanrobertson02: I'll start with a few showing.

Ronnie James Dio | Very good at his trademark, original, epicly & aggressively & ferocious vocals. He was truly unique and had power like no other.
Last in line & Holy Diver live.

struanrobertson02: Layne Staley | He was also very unique, I saw his voice as a mix of Axl Rose and Kurt Cobain. It was a perfect blend and he used his voice well for a very powerful and grungy, yet haunting vocals.

struanrobertson02: ^ Kurt Cobain rightfully had the force of the 90's Grunge, Seattle movement. His power, unique voice and songwriting skills were above average. But he was quite a poor singer in other important departments, too be honest. He sounded a bit off note at times if you listen carefully or not. Sure it goes well with the music and made Nirvana's grunge style trademark. But in the end his technicality, range, control etc were kinda mediocre. P.S Not saying I could do better, just......well....yah.

struanrobertson02: Jkent, those are some good singers. Nice to know that you have a wide range of taste in music. But I disagree with most.
And Will Smith and Britney Spears are pretty rubbish.
Another great singer I'd add would be Bill O' Reily.

struanrobertson02: Grunge: Layne Staley, Chris Cornell
Metal: Ronnie James Dio, Mike Patton, Rob Halford, Ian Gillan, Bruce Dickinson, Eric Adams,
Hard Rock: Robert Plant, Freddie Mercury, Ian Gillan, Roger Daltrey, Elvis Presley.
Prog Rock/Metal: Peter Gabriel, Jon Anderson, Russel Allen, Mikael Akderfeldt, Ian Anderson & James Labrie,

I know Labrie is considered horrible and too shrieky, high pitched & annoying at times, especially live. But he really is a great singer, before his food poisoning he had frightening range, tone & Execution, but laid inconsistent as alot of the time he wasn't. He's getting better again and his live skill is improving considerably.
