St3v3_O9D1: Chili peppers are an original band such as slipknot. making them great. such as zeppelin. nobody else sounds like these bands. theres Chimaira, Lamb of God, As I Lay Dying tht have a specific originality to them making them unique for their genre. i can name like thirty other bands tht are kickass like slipknot.

St3v3_O9D1: yea and mainstream cuz they are original. i know bout other bands though i just choose not to listen. some death metal is just too much. songs dont have to be a discombobulation of crazy shit to be good. chimaira has couple songs to show tht. so does mudvayne though.

St3v3_O9D1: im pretty sure i didnt say that they were death metal. new metal is wht slipknot is considered now. im saying tht i dont care for some death metal. being able to sweep pic and do all sorts of crazy shit doesnt always make a guitar player great. zakk wylde and dave mustaine dont really sweep and they have some good music.

Also sorry i didn't read the post fully, i was half awake. i can dig slipknot on a basis i used to be a big fan in the 2000s when Iwoa came out but i lost touch mostly because there is like a million other bands out there and i like to experiment with them.

St3v3_O9D1: yea i understand all that completely. but yea with mustaine he just aint got any really good tricks. but i used him as a reference cuz he doesnt sweep. all slipknot did was mellow out a lil bit so they would get more sales. cuz yu know theres people out there tht bitch how thts too heavy and they cnt understand it. so they went and fit it so everybody could listen. if yu can tell mudvayne did it with the New Game. they sound totally diff but the heavy metal melodies are still there with the guitar. devildriver is one of my fav underrated bands. they have good material people jst need to give it a shot.

St3v3_O9D1: the guitar player in mudvayne has got some sick shit on tht new album. and none of it is even tht hard to play. i figured out the do what you do solo by myself. they are another example of not to complicated guitar still having a good sound with the right rythm. same with devildrivers pray for villains. its pretty simple but sounds sick. clouds over california is pretty hard though. they mellow out a lil in pray for villains but they still get the sound they want. In Flames has some good material. the album a sense of purpose has more thn a couple good hits on it. their guitar riffing is very creative in my book. they player in lower tuning thn slipnknot. which is low. lol
