CAN WE CHANGE THE VIEW OF PIT BULLS?

All _animal_fan
PAPADOO4: STEREO-TYPE THE DOG THAT WAS BREAD TO FIGHT! BAN IT AFTER THE STUPIDITY OF ITS OWNER ALLOW IT TO ACT ON ITS AGGRESSION TOWARD OTHERS. AND THEN WHEN THE BREED IS EVEN MENTIONED ITS DOWN TALK AND GETS NEGATIVE RESPONSES. ITS SEEM PREJUDICE TO ME. THE DOG IS BAD BECAUSE IT WAS BREAD TO FIGHT, SO IT CAN NOT BE A GOOD DOG!! LOL THATS A FOOL TALKING! I HAVE 3 PIT BULLS, AND ANYONE WHO KNOWS ME KNOWS THEY ARE MY KIDS. AND AS KIDS NEED TO BE TAUGHT HOW TO CONDUCT THEMSELVES AROUND OTHERS SO DOES MINE. THAT SIMPLY MEANS, NOTHING AND NOBODY IS BORN PERFECT, AND EVERYTHING IN THIS WORLD IS BORN WITH A CLEAN SLATE!! PEOPLE HATE ALL YOU WANT, JUST ONE LESS PERSON I DON'T HAVE TO SAY HI TO!! OH AND NICE TO MEET YOU TOO!! LOL

Dynom!te
Dynom!te:
I have two boxer/pit pups. There are about 6 months. They are wonerfuly goofy, playful dogs. I do respect them, I have 4 kids and would never want anything to happen to them. I keep the dogs in a pen, let them out to runaround and play as often as possible, let the kids pet them while they eat, that is the most dangerous time for them to be disturbed but I'm starting while they are pups. The moma is a boxer that is mine, she is not penned, well, I try to, but she jumps over the top of the 60" pen, go figure. I have a pure blood Great Dane that is an inside dog. It is supposed to be the friendliest of them all but it has snapped at the kids multiple times, twice while eating and once while sleeping ( I think they just startled it). So each dog is an individual, a little ankle bittin Chihuahua, c**ker spaniels, other small breads of terrier, etc. can be mean..... With this being said.........
If a man gets bit by a Chihuahua he will treat the bite with some antiseptic put a banaid on if he's a wimp, go about his day....kill the dog maybe.....joking. Pit bulls are diferent. I've seen people break 2 x 4 boards across a pits head to get it off of another dog that it is killing, and that did not stop it. Everyone knows the lethal effects of an unfreindly pit. There are people that are against the right to bear arms. Whenever and wherever a lethal threat exist, there will be people that fear it. The jaws of a Pit Bull can kill a man. That does not mean that they will. As long as people stop fighting the dogs and just raise them as everyday pets, their reputation over time will get better.....The people to blame are the people that fight them or make them mean, or just plain raise them wrong......they are in the wrong, they are the reason for the breeds bad rep.

123: Papadoo4, I don't have any dogs but do love animals. I feel very bad for the reputations pit bulls have received. It was human cruelty that gave them that reputation unfortunately. It's not so much the pit bulls I fear. It's humans that should be tied and muzzled.
xxCarlosxx: You can either pay attention to their negative rap, or you can just ignore it because you KNOW it's bullshit and go about your day.

I have two pitbulls and nobody seems afraid or hateful toward them. When people see me with them and see how calm they are and how great they can be when under the care of a knowledgeable dog owner, they feel at ease and get to see how great these dogs can be.

And it's really too bad, because the only reason these dogs get a bad rap in the first place is because of their owners. As a powerful breed, they DO need a bit more exercise and challenge than other breeds, but some people are just flat-out lazy, don't give their dogs that challenge they need, and then the dog gets frustrated and has to find SOME way of releasing that pent up energy; hence the attacks. It's the owners who are the source of the problems--the dogs are just the outlets.

Whatever...

commanchedogsoldier: 99% of the time it is poor and irresponsible pet ownership that is responsible for these guys getting their bad reputation. i personally own 11 pitbulls and i have never had an incident. its no different to raising a child, boundaries have to be set and rules have to be adhered to and this creates a form of discipline within the mind of the dog which then creates a happy and healthy personality. i am constantly hearing stories about pitbulls killing cats, this is bullshit !!! if your pitbull kills a cat it's because of poor and irresponsible pet ownership. i own a cat and he plays, mingles, sleeps and eats with my 11 pitbulls !!! so don't anyone try to tell me it's in a pitbulls nature to kill because that is just a pathetic excuse for poor and irresponsible pet ownership as far as i am concerned. it's humans that teach these dogs to kill. pitbulls....i love 'em !!!

bundy_princess: I have a purebred pitbull who is 2 now and she is the most loyal dog i have ever had she has never snapped at anyone she is the best judge of character and wont let u in if she dont like you but not agreassive she just barks. she loves other dogs and adores children all the hype on these very lovely loyal dogs is a result of bad owners.

Over here in Australia unless your a registered breeder you have to have your pitbull sterilized by the age of 6 months i think it is and when buying ine u have to sign into this contract thing and must register them as a dangerous breed must have signage on all fences around ur yard andwhen taken out in public they must be muzzeled and where a reflective collar and lead.

i rekon its a load of c**p there are more little dogs that attack people than big dogs but its only the big dogs that get discriminated against

i have always owned rottis shephereds and dobermans as i use them for work trained security/ police dogs and i have never once had a problem with them.

sorry for the long post

Donny1974: I love pits.I have a 6month old female and she is the sweetest dog in the world. She has never bitten anyone or tryied to fight with another dog.All she wants to do is play. She even gets along with the cats.My friends have pits. And none of them have ever had a problem with them.
As far as pits being agressive.Yes they can be.They were orig. bred to be guard dogs for family farms. But you what.Rotties/golden retreavers and labs have been repoted more for biting than pits. Its just that pits have the stongest bite.

momma169: ITS NOT THE DOGS IT IS THE OWNERS.THEY NEED TO WORRY BOUT THE PEOPLE KILLING PEOPLE OVER DUMB STUFF.I have 2 pits, a rotti, shepard , etc. and i have 2 kids and i have kids here all the time they are the most frendly dogs. they only protect what they are tought. my dogs are completely trained to do anything. in english and german. they are kool with most people unless they sence something wrong. i go by my dogs actions if i am going to be able to trust them. they are my family. better then most people. not too much drama unless females are in heat.

zookeepers: Any dogs I have or have had have always been neutered or spaded. The problem still lies with the owner or trainer. If training is done properly and the dog is well treated there should never be a problem. This comes with approx. 60 years of experience with a variety of breeds.

Jetters: Every animal should be desexed. Back yard breeding by idiots is the reason we put down 250,000 healthy animals every year in this country alone. Humans are lazy and apathetic morons who let their animals breed, only to be dumped at the shelter or killed.

Hyenablood: here in canada, Manitoba, outside of Winnipeg city, pitbulls are allowed, I only learned this recently. Yet in Winnipeg the breed is banned, yet go a few miles past the primeter and you can own a bull. Haven't seen any, but people's yards are big and there are lots of trees, etc.
