Should comfortably living make you feel uncomfortable?

Given that there are so many severely impoverished people in the world?

Please do not assume that I am taking the moral highroad simply because I asked this question. I am wondering what you all think about this important topic.

It should make uncomfortable, people that enjoy the good things in life and can afford to be generous. We have a situation where families are now living in tents in some parts of Australia for goodness sake. There are many government buildings left almost empty that would serve as emergency housing, the buildings cost the taxpayer a lot of money, yet the Government just leaves them vacant and a total waste of money, unless, it is utilised for the people finding themselves in very difficult situations. The well off could use their influence and money to help change this stupidity of the governement.

without uncomfortable there is no comfortable. but if your comfortable living makes you feel uncomfortable, then its not comfortable living.

If only it were that simple to break through to find the kindness in everyone's heart!

Comfortable living should make your life comfortable and thus "happy". But it doesn't and we are slowly learning that fact.
The more we have the more we want the more we need. We became slaves to consumerism.
This is the day of the material religion... Our churches are the super markets and shopping malls.
You are the sum of what you consume... And nothing more.
Everyday we are forced to see commercials on tv that say what we should have and how we should look and and live and "love".

So, the answer is yes. The more comfortable we are the more miserable we feel.

No, I don't believe we should feel uncomfortable about living comfortably. It is our own arrogance that makes us feel our way of living is somehow better than that of others. There is no reason one can't enjoy living in a tent. Those living in tents may even think so much of the things in our lives are superfluous, and I believe they would be right. Our possessions do not make us any more capable of feeling happy or being sad. Those are things we find within ourselves, not in the world around us.
