There are a lot of good classical books taught in classrooms. Unfortunately, many of the books I read in English my parents also read from lack of funding for new books, but they were still a good read. What is your favorite piece of literature that was taught in a classroom? Mine was Scarlet Letter and Catcher in the Rye, although I read Catcher outside of a classroom.

List of books most commonly taught in English classroom:
*The Odyssey
*Catcher in the Rye
*Hamlet
*Romeo and Juliet
*Lord of the Flies
*Great Gatsby
*To Kill a Mocking Bird
*Of Mice and Men
*One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
*Caesar
*Scarlet Letter
*...many more

By far the greatest book I have ever read is The Count of Monte Cristo. It's just so perfect in how Dantes' revenge is drawn out. So magnificent. Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami is up there so is Larry Niven's Ringworld for being an amazing piece of Sci-fi.

It's a toss between Wuthering Heights and Angela's Ashes.
