Hiya all. I wish that in this country we could have a legal system that would stand up for animal rights and hand out the stiffest sentences. I always watch the programmes on satelite such as animal cops and I think that they are doing a wonderful job. It is hard to believe that anybody could be so horrible when an animal will love you unconditionally.

I would love to hear your views

ciao

i agree totally with you. there is this one lady in my home town that left a dog in the heat of the afternoon (it was almost 90 degrees) with no water or food tied to a post outside of mcdonalds. i gave the dog some water and a little bit of food. he was the sweetest dog, just a baby. i then waited about an hour while watching him to make sure he was okay. i then called the police to have the animal control unit come pick him up. the sent one canine unit to come pick him up. he waited with the dog also. the owner came to pick up her dog but the officer did nothing to her except told her not to do it again. i think that is jsut the rudest and cruelest thing that a person could do. i offered to take the dog off her hands but she said that she would sell him to me. i agreed but i couldnt keep him. i at least got him away from her.he is now in a safer home. a friend of mine took him and he is doing so well.

In live in Louisiana USA, out in the country. The sherrif's department has a deputy we know well, he deals with the animals.
He cares too. But it's only one man so everyone has to act together to help him. Once in while we get a stray dog that has been mistreated or is starving so we will tie it up in the shade with some food or water and call him to come pick it up. He's always got the lastest animal rescue stories. He may be real nice but he does his job well and does not like people that mistreat animals.

I agree. People should write to or email their political representatives. Nothing will ever change until then. The more who write, the faster the changes should take place. Some of the cruelty I've heard of in Canada is so very terrible it will nauseate me for the rest of my life.
Human beings are called "h@~y sapiens" - sapiens meaning thinking, feeling, sentient beings. But the lack of class shown by people without sensitivity nor morality towards animals shud be penalised heavily, with heavy fines to be deterrents. At present law systems around the world give too light penalties and light meagre fines, showing that Law enactors do not give much importance to the maltreatment of animals. What a SHAME !!!!

I have always been an animal lover since i was a child. I can remember as a little girl i would bring dogs and cats home with me thinking they were homeless i would feed them and give them fresh water unaware that some had homes and the owners had just let them out to use the restroom but they always knew where to look if their pets were missing LOL....I have had many pets over the yrs all rescued from abusive situations. I have now a Yorkie that i found in an abandoned breeding home. The owners had left 100's of animals to starve and die i found homes for most of the dogs and cats the rest were takes by PAWS a no kill shelter. When i locked eyes with "Dixie" (my dog) i instantly fell in love with her. She was barely alive but still found enough energy to raise her head and wag her tail at me. They love us unconditionally how could anyone be so cruel to abuse any animal! We need tougher laws to punish animal abusers!!!

Yes, in extreme cases of animal cruelty, there shud even be community service to animal shelter. In very severe cases of animal cruelty there shud even be jail sentences or very heavy fines (according to the wealth of the person!).
