Punk Rock or Brat Rock?

I dunno what's going on with the kids these days, but when did all the teenagers loose sight of the real message of punk! Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to be a self proclaimed ambassador of punk by any means, but I don't like what is happening and I blame all those snot nose little brats from the suburbs!

I'm 34 years old musician from canada. I've lived during 4 decades of music and have played for almost 3 of them and this is what I've learned about punk....

The Stooges, MC5, Black Flag, The Bad Brains, Minor Threat , Bad Religion, The Ramones, these are the guys that defined punk! They always will set the standard's of Punk. Not these little sh*ts from Simple Plan, Good Charlette, Sum 41, and Blink 182(although i do enjoy the later two, they sure ain't punk)..Punk Rock isn't about Mohawks , green hair, studded bracelettes, facial peircings and crap. It was about FCUK the system.
FCUK everything.....Govt, Religion, Confromity and Authority....... FCUK anything that forced narrow minded morals on society....Not fashion. I mean the bad brains are a bunch of rastifarians, bad religion were a bunch of doctor's that wore hockey jersey's. The Stooges, the MC5, bunch of cxwx rockers wacked on H!
And what about Discharge, G.G.Allin...Ah man G.G. Allin if you don't know about him you gotta find out on your own, you really don't know punk unless you do!!!

Bands like Good Charolette...sure there music is real, they've had a tough time growing up, but it ain't Punk. I mean ur rich now because of it so quit ur damn whining. Same with Simple Plan, How old ru guys? Probably early 30's like me,lol. And your Daddy still doesn't Understand you and you have so much math homework to do..........cmon that ain't punk rock. That's what I like to call Brat Rock!!! And I blame all you sniveling little brats from the Suburb's for creating it...You know who you are

In the end I know this is only my opinion. And it's ok to listen to bands like Simple Plan and Avril Lavigne, but that stuff ain't Punk!!!! And there's nothing anyone can do about it....
